Prince Andrew has given up his royal titles, including Duke of York, following a discussion with King Charles. He will no longer use these titles or honors such as Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order and Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The move comes after Prince Andrew struggled to shake off allegations of misconduct, particularly those surrounding his relationship with late financier Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre, who claimed he had sex with her when she was 17.

In a statement, Prince Andrew said that discussing the issue with King Charles and his family led him to decide to step back from public life. He also reiterated that he denies the allegations made against him.

While technically, Prince Andrew will still retain the dukedom, which can only be removed by an act of parliament, it appears that the royal family wishes for this title to remain dormant.

Prince Andrew's ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, will not use her title and will instead be known as Sarah Ferguson. However, their daughters' titles will remain unaffected.

The decision was reportedly made after high-level meetings at Buckingham Palace, where there was significant concern within the royal household about the ongoing headlines causing reputational damage to the monarchy.

Prince Andrew's association with Epstein has been a major issue for him in recent years. His friendship with Ghislaine Maxwell, an accused accomplice of Epstein, has also raised eyebrows.

Andrew will no longer use his HRH honorific or other titles on his wedding day, including Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh.

This move comes as the Labour MP Rachael Maskell calls for a law change to provide the king with the power to remove titles on his own initiative or after the recommendation of a joint parliament committee.

I don’t usually comment but it’s kinda sad to see Prince Andrew giving up his royal titles... I mean, he's still gonna be Duke of York technically which is weird 🤔. But at the same time, the whole Epstein situation was super messy and I can understand why the royal family would wanna distance themselves from him 🙏. It’s like, you can't control how others perceive you online but you can control how you react to it 😒. And honestly, who wouldn’t want to step away from all that drama? 💁‍♀️ Still, it's kinda sad for the royal family because they're losing a member... or are they still gonna be part of the family 👪?

I think this is a pretty savvy move by King Charles 🤔. It's clear that Prince Andrew's involvement in some dodgy stuff has been causing more harm to the royal family than good, and by taking away his titles, they're basically distancing themselves from all the controversy 💯. I mean, it's not like he can just pick them back up whenever he wants – technically speaking, that would take an act of parliament 🚫. But at this point, I think it's safe to say that Prince Andrew won't be rocking up to royal events anytime soon 👑. And honestly, the royal family needs a bit of cleaning up after some of these scandals – so kudos to King Charles for taking charge and setting things right 💪.

omg i cant believe whats happening 🤯 prince andrews whole royal thing is getting ruined 🚮 like whats next? will they have to give up their car collection too 🚗? its not just about him tho, this affects the entire monarchy and their reputation 👑. the whole scandal with epstein has been super damaging and i get why king charles wants to distance himself from it 💯 but still, its sad that prince andrews daughters will still have their titles 🤷‍♀️. maybe this is a good thing tho, like we should all be held accountable for our actions 🙏.

I'm like totally shocked that Prince Andrew is giving up those royal titles 🤯👑... I mean, it's about time, really. He's been dodging this Epstein scandal for years and it was only gonna be a matter of time before he faced the music. And honestly, can you blame him? The whole thing just looks super shady 💁‍♂️. But, you know, to be fair to Prince Andrew, I don't think he's entirely in the wrong about this one - those allegations against him are pretty serious and I'm not buying that he's innocent 🙅‍♂️. Anyways, it's a good move by the royal family to distance themselves from all that drama 👍...

I gotta say, this is just crazy 🤯 how far down the royal family has fallen. I mean, it's not like they're getting stripped of their actual powers or anything, but still... Prince Andrew just gives up all that royal stuff? It feels like an admission of defeat, you know?

And can we talk about the optics of this for a second? The fact that he gets to keep his dukedom technically, but it's basically just going dormant? Like, what even is the point of holding onto something that's just gonna collect dust? 🤷‍♂️

I also feel like the royal family is trying to send a message with this whole thing. I mean, they're not acknowledging any wrongdoing, but they are trying to distance themselves from Prince Andrew and his shady past. It's all very calculated and careful, which is just so... royal 🤴♂️

I'm not surprised about Prince Andrew giving up his royal titles lol... I mean, it's about time someone in that situation stepped back and let the monarchy move forward 💪. But what's weird is that they're basically letting him keep his dukedom dormant... like, if he really wants to come back out, he can just pick up where he left off 🤔. It's almost like they want to make an example of him or something? The part about Sarah Ferguson keeping her daughters' titles is a nice touch though 👩‍👧‍👦, it shows that the royal family still cares about their younger generations. And Rachael Maskell's idea about changing the law to give the king more power... yeah, that's a good one 🤝. It would be interesting to see how this all plays out in the future 💥

omg I'm not surprised Prince Andrew is stepping back from public life, all those allegations were super damaging to the monarchy 🤕...I think it's good he's being honest and taking responsibility for his actions, but still weird that he gets to keep his dukedom 🤑...I'd love to see a law change so the king can just remove titles without having to go through parliament, it feels like a bit of a loophole 😒...anyway, I'm curious to see how this all plays out in the coming months 👀...and I feel bad for Sarah Ferguson, she's always been a likable person 🤗

🙄 I mean... this is wild. Can you imagine walking away from your royal life like that? I'm thinking, what's next? Will they all just give up their crowns and live normal lives? It feels like the monarchy is trying to adapt to changing times, but it's hard to say if it's working. Interesting

🤔 so i think this is a huge deal, you know? prince andrew just kinda gave up on being royal lol. it's not like he's really losing anything in terms of actual wealth or privileges, but more about how his public image is affected by all the drama surrounding him.

i feel bad for him, though, because it seems like everyone's against him, and i'm sure it can't be easy to deal with all those allegations. but i guess stepping back from public life is a pretty good way to avoid further scrutiny.

the thing that really bothers me, tho, is how this might affect the monarchy as a whole. i mean, what happens if other royals get into similar situations? will they just give up on being royal too? 🤷‍♀️ it's all kinda messy, but maybe this is just the royal family trying to be proactive about cleaning their own house?

anyway, gotta admit, it's interesting to see how the royal family's priorities are shifting. who knew being a good public image could be so important?! 😂
