‘Punishable by DEATH’: Trump threatens Democrats with sedition charges

US President Donald Trump has sparked outrage with his recent comments, suggesting that Democratic lawmakers could face the death penalty for refusing illegal orders. The threat was made on social media platforms, with Trump stating that those who defy his orders "cannot be allowed to stand" and are guilty of seditious behavior.

Trump's remarks come after a video surfaced showing six Democratic senators and representatives, all veterans of the US military or intelligence services, urging their colleagues in the armed forces and intelligence community to refuse illegal orders. The Democrats appealed to military and intelligence workers to stand up to what they saw as unlawful demands, citing the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The comment drew swift condemnation from Democrats, who labelled Trump's remarks "absolutely vile." In contrast, Trump's homeland security adviser Stephen Miller described the Democratic lawmakers' comments as a call to insurrection, which they denied. The party argued that their statement was based on existing military law and court precedent.

The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 restricts the use of the military for domestic law enforcement, and legal experts have warned that Trump's actions may be in violation of international human rights laws and the UN Charter. At least 83 people have been killed in the attacks on boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean.

This is not the first time Trump has dangled the prospect of imprisonment or even death before his critics, including his own party members. During his presidential campaign, he encouraged crowds to chant "Lock her up! Lock her up!" referring to rival Hillary Clinton. Since taking office, Trump has continued to threaten his critics and perceived opponents with arrest.

Critics say that such threats have become a hallmark of Trump's presidency, with many regarding them as unconstitutional and a threat to democracy. The situation highlights the dangers of rhetoric that can fuel divisions within the US and undermine its institutions.

The recent video from Democrats and Trump's response raise questions about the limits of presidential power, the role of the military in domestic affairs, and the importance of upholding the rule of law. As tensions between Trump and his opponents continue to escalate, it remains to be seen how this situation will unfold.

I'm getting really worried about where this country is headed 🤕. This kind of rhetoric from a leader should never happen... it's not just about the threat itself but how it makes people feel like they're being backed into a corner. The Posse Comitatus Act is in place for a reason, and Trump's comments are basically saying that doesn't matter to him. I'm also thinking about all those veterans who spoke out against Trump's orders... to call them traitors just because you don't agree with their views? 🤷‍♂️ It's time for us as a nation to have a serious conversation about how we handle disagreements without resorting to threats and intimidation.

OMG, this is soooo not good 🤕. I mean, come on, who does Trump think he is? Threatening people with death just 'cause they don't agree with him? It's like something out of a bad action movie 🎥. And can we talk about how ridiculous it is that some ppl actually chant "Lock her up!" whenever someone says Trump is being a jerk? Like, what even is that? 😂

And I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions, but come on! You can't just threaten someone's life over a tweet or something. That's like, so not how it works 🤷‍♀️. And what's with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878? Like, who even remembers that was a thing? 😂

I mean, I remember when Bush Sr. used to talk about the importance of diplomacy and working together... now we're at this point where it's all just about "my way or the highway" 🚗. And honestly, it's making me feel like I'm stuck in some kind of dystopian nightmare 😨.

We should be talking about how to actually fix problems and work together as a country, not threatening people with death over our differences 💔. Can we please just have a civil conversation for once? 🤗

🤯 OMG u guys dont even believe what trumps just said! 🙄 like seriously he's suggesting ppl can get death penalty 4 refusing his orders??! 😱 that's straight up crazy talk. i'm lowkey scared for the democrats rn, but at the same time, like, isn't this just another example of trump's ego and power trip? 💁‍♀️ the posse comitatus act is literally a thing, folks! 🤓 how can he not know that? this whole situation is giving me major anxiety.

I'm so worried about what's happening with our world rn 🤕. I mean, Trump is just crossing a line, you know? Threatening people with death for not agreeing with him? That's just not okay, ever 💔. It's like he's above the law or something, but we all know that's not true. We need to stand up against this kind of behavior and make sure our leaders are held accountable 🙌.

I'm also really concerned about the impact this has on our democracy 🤯. If a president can just threaten people with death for disagreeing with him, what does that say about the state of our country? We need to have some kind of checks and balances in place to make sure power isn't abused 💪.

And let's not forget about the veterans who spoke out against Trump 🙏. They're brave men and women who have put their lives on the line for our country, and they deserve respect and support, not threats or insults 😤. We need to stand with them and against Trump's toxic behavior 👊.

🤔 I'm really worried about where this is going... Trump's comments are super concerning, but at the same time, those six Democratic senators have a point about standing up for what they believe in 🙏. As a veteran myself (not military or intelligence), it feels like our elected officials are supposed to put the country first, not just party lines 👊. The Posse Comitatus Act is clear on this - we can't have the military enforcing domestic laws 🚫. Trump's response seems super petty and divisive, but what's worse is that he's using his platform to whip up fear and mistrust 🤬. Can't we all just try to find common ground here? We're at a tipping point in our country, and I hope we don't lose sight of what truly matters - the rule of law and the well-being of everyone 🕊️.

🤔 man, trump's comments are a huge red flag. like, who gives that kinda power to one person? it's crazy how he thinks he can just dangle the death penalty over people's heads and get away with it. newsflash: it doesn't work that way. what's next? is he gonna start issuing 'kill or be killed' orders on his enemies? 🚫

anyway, this whole situation makes me think about how important it is to stand up for what's right, even when it's hard. those 6 democrats who spoke out against trump showed some serious guts, and they're basically saying that we can't let fear or intimidation silence us from speaking truth to power. 💪

at the same time, though, it's also a reminder of how divided our country is right now. people are literally losing their lives over politics 🌊, and that's just not okay. we need to find a way to work together and put our differences aside before things get even worse.

ultimately, i think this whole thing teaches us about the importance of checks and balances in our system of government. no one person should have that kind of power, no matter how powerful they are 🤷‍♂️

I'M SO CONCERNED ABOUT TRUMP'S WORDS!!! HE'S TALKING LIKE SOME KIND OF Dictator!!! I MEAN, WHO NEEDS THE DEATH PENALTY FOR NOT FOLLOWING ORDERS??? THAT'S JUST CRAZY TALK!!! AND WHAT'S NEXT? IS HE GOING TO ORDER PEOPLE TO BE LOCKED UP FOR SPEAKING OUT AGAINST HIM? IT'S GETTING SCARY OVER HERE! 🚨💥
