READ: Trump indictment and statement of facts related to hush money payment | CNN Politics

Former US President Donald Trump has been slapped with a slew of felony charges, totaling 34 counts, in an indictment that marks a significant milestone in the ongoing hush money scandal. The unsealed documents reveal a detailed account of alleged crimes committed by Trump and his associates.

According to the indictment, Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130,000 in hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016, just days before the presidential election. This payment was made to prevent Daniels from speaking publicly about an alleged extramarital affair with Trump.

In addition to the payment to Daniels, the indictment also alleges that Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen paid $500,000 in hush money to adult film star Karen McDougal, who had also claimed to have had an affair with Trump. This payment was made in 2016 as well.

The indictment charges Trump and his associates with multiple counts of campaign finance law violations, making false statements on financial disclosure forms, and violating tax laws. The alleged crimes were committed between 2016 and 2018, during Trump's presidential campaign and early presidency.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty to eight federal felony charges in 2019, was the primary orchestrator of the hush money payments. He claimed that he acted at Trump's direction, but Trump denied any involvement in the payments.

The indictment is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into Trump's dealings with Russia and his campaign's ties to Russia during the 2016 presidential election. The case has raised questions about Trump's ethics and compliance with campaign finance laws.

The statement of facts accompanying the indictment provides further details on the hush money payments and alleges that Trump orchestrated a scheme to conceal his involvement in the payments from federal investigators.

this is just crazy 😱, can you believe trump is being charged with so many things? i mean 34 counts is a lot, like what did he even do wrong? it's all about the money and politics, right? i feel bad for michael cohen, he got caught up in this mess and now he's paying the price 💔. but at the same time, trump needs to be held accountable for his actions, you know? he's been saying one thing but doing another for years, it's like, come on man! 🤯

📰 This whole thing is getting more intense by the day! I mean, 34 counts of felony charges? That's a lot to take in. I'm not sure what's more shocking - the fact that Trump and his associates allegedly paid millions in hush money to keep quiet about some pretty shady stuff or that they thought they could get away with it for so long.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how this all adds up. Like, if Cohen was the primary orchestrator of these payments, does that mean he's going down hard? And what about Trump - is he really gonna deny any involvement in all this?

The more I read, the more I wonder what else we're not being told. There are definitely some serious ethics concerns here and it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. 🤔

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s crazy how far this scandal has gone 🤯. Like, who knew that someone could be involved in something so huge? I mean, I know some people might say that Trump is guilty or not guilty but for me the most surprising thing is that he finally got charged with actual crimes 🚔. In all these years of drama and controversy I never thought I’d see him facing real consequences. Of course this indictment is just a part of it and it'll be interesting to see what happens next 💥. And btw, can we talk about how much of this whole thing was orchestrated by Michael Cohen? 🤔

🤔 This whole thing is just so...sickening 🤢. I mean, who gets away with paying hush money for an alleged affair? It's just not right 💁‍♀️. And now that it's all out there, I wonder what other skeletons are gonna come crawling out of the closet 🕵️‍♀️. The fact that Cohen is admitting to doing Trump's dirty work and then taking a plea deal kinda raises more questions than answers 🤔. What was Trump's involvement in all this? Was he really as clueless as we thought, or did he know exactly what was going on behind the scenes? I don't know about you guys, but it seems like we're still missing some pretty big pieces of the puzzle 💡.

Ugh, come on guys, this is like, basic stuff 🙄! So, Trump's gotta pay for what he did with that Stormy Daniels chick and Karen McDougal too? Like, yeah, no surprises there 😒. I mean, it's not like he didn't know his lawyers were gonna get him into trouble. And let's be real, Cohen was the one who actually got caught 🤦‍♂️.

But seriously, this is a big deal because now we're talking about campaign finance laws and all that jazz 💸. I mean, Trump's been dodging questions about this for years, but finally someone's holding him accountable 🚫. And it's not just about the money, it's about what he was trying to hide from the public eye 👀.

Anyway, let's keep an eye on this one, folks! It's gonna be interesting to see how Trump and his team try to spin this one 🔁. But honestly, I'm not surprised, given everything we've seen so far 🙄.

idk, I'm both shocked & unsurprised by this whole thing... like, how did it take them THIS long to come for him? 🤷‍♂️ on one hand, I feel like justice is finally being served, you know? but on the other hand, doesn't this just show that power & money can get away with pretty much anything? 💸 meanwhile, I'm kinda rooting for Cohen - he's taking a big hit, but at least he's ownin' up to his mistakes... or so it seems 🤔 and btw, Stormy Daniels is like, a total victim here - all that trauma & stress from bein' silenced by Trump's $$ 💔

😒 just read this and can't help but feel like we're seeing some serious fallout for Trump's whole 'I'm above the law' vibe 🤥 he's got 34 felony charges against him now, which is wild considering how much power he had back in the day 💸 it's crazy to think that someone as influential as him could get caught up in something like this and not have any sort of protection from the system 🤔 I do hope these documents bring some closure to the whole Stormy Daniels thing, though – it's been a wild ride for her too 😕

this is huge 🤯, the fact that trump's associates are finally getting caught up in their own mess is pretty wild. i mean, $130k for stormy daniels? that's insane 💸 and now we're finding out more about the others too like karen mcdougal. it's crazy how far down the rabbit hole this all goes... and let's not forget about the russian connections - it's like a never-ending puzzle 🧩. but seriously, does trump think he can just waltz back into politics after this? i don't think so 😂.
