Rep. Jim Jordan on Justice Department potentially prosecuting Jack Smith: "I leave that up to them"

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan maintained his stance on the Justice Department's potential prosecution of former Special Counsel Jack Smith, saying he leaves it up to them. The Republican lawmaker's remarks come as tensions between the two have been ongoing since Smith took office.

In a recent congressional hearing where Smith testified, Jordan was given an opportunity to question him. Despite this chance encounter, Jordan stuck to his guns on the matter of Smith's probe into President Donald Trump and his alleged mishandling of classified documents.

When asked by CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett about his views on the Justice Department's potential prosecution of Smith, Jordan remained unyielding in his stance. "I leave that up to them," he replied.

omg what's going on with these congress people ๐Ÿคฏ like can't they just agree on something? i was watching this hearing and jim jordan is being super stubborn about jack smith ๐Ÿ™„ so the justice department is gonna prosecute him or not idk. doesn't it matter if they do or dont? i mean, what's the big deal about classified documents anyway? is it like a huge security risk or something?

anyway, i was thinking about getting a new phone case and i saw this super cool one with a cartoon cat on it ๐Ÿˆ does anyone have any good recommendations for those kinds of cases? mine broke after like 2 months so i need somethin that's gonna last. oh and did you guys hear about the new avocado toast trend in nyc? like, it's supposed to be super trendy now ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

I'm not sure what's more surprising - Jim Jordan sticking to his guns or him actually leaving it up to the DOJ ๐Ÿคฃ. I mean, it's like he's trying out for a role in a movie where he gets to be the "wise guy" who always says the right thing... but then does whatever he wants anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚. The whole thing feels like a bad episode of 'Law & Order' - except instead of a detective, there's a congressman ๐Ÿ™„. Can we get a cameo from Donald Trump as the bad guy? That would be priceless ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿ˜Š I'm not sure what's going on with these two. It's like they're playing some kind of game where neither one is willing to back down. Jack Smith is trying to do his job, investigating the President and whether or not he broke any laws, but Jim Jordan just won't budge. He's always been a bit of a firecracker, that one... ๐Ÿš€ I'm not sure what's driving him on this one, maybe he's just trying to stick it to the Establishment? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Either way, it's causing a big stir and making it look like some politicians are more interested in being troublemakers than actually getting things done. ๐Ÿ™„ Can't we all just get along... or at least figure out who's in charge around here? ๐Ÿค”

I gotta say, this whole situation with Jim Jordan and Jack Smith is just getting pretty intense ๐Ÿคฏ. Like, can't they just have a chill conversation about it? I mean, they've been going back and forth for ages now, and it's starting to feel like they're more interested in playing politics than actually figuring out what's going on.

And what's with Jordan being so inflexible on this whole thing? He's basically saying he trusts the Justice Department to handle it, but then he sticks to his guns and refuses to back down. It's like, dude, can't you just listen to what Smith has to say for once? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm starting to think that Jordan is more worried about being seen as a "tough guy" than actually doing the right thing.

I'm not saying that Smith is above scrutiny or anything, but come on, can we please just have a civil conversation about this instead of all the drama and posturing? ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ˜’ Just great, more drama with these politicians... Can't they just put their differences aside and focus on what really matters? This whole thing is just a waste of time and taxpayer dollars ๐Ÿค‘ And now Jordan's being super helpful by basically saying "you're on your own" to the Justice Department ๐Ÿค” I mean, come on Jim, you're a congressman, not a lawyer... can't he just let the experts do their job? ๐Ÿ’ผ This whole thing is just going to lead to more delays and confusion for everyone involved ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

so what does it even mean when they say "leave it up to them"? like, can't they just do their job already? ๐Ÿ˜• and what's with all these congressional hearings anyway? I feel like I'm stuck in some kinda TV drama ๐Ÿ“บ. seriously though, how much more proof does the Justice Department need before they can actually investigate someone? ๐Ÿค” is it really that hard to get a warrant or something? ๐Ÿ’ผ

You know, I was thinking, isn't it interesting how some people just stick to what they believe even if it means not knowing all the facts? ๐Ÿค” Like, Jim Jordan's gotta be sure he's right on this whole Jack Smith thing, but at what cost? Is it worth risking the truth and potentially hurting someone just 'cause that's what you think is right?

I mean, can't we try to see things from different perspectives for once? It's like, just 'cause one person thinks something's up don't mean the other person is wrong. We need a bit of nuance in our lives, you know? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

can't believe jim jordan is still gonna stick his neck out on this one ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. like, doesn't he understand how politics works? when you're chairman of a committee, it's all about playing both sides and not wanting to rock the boat... but instead, he's just being super basic and saying "it's up to them" ๐Ÿ™„. come on, jim, show some backbone for once! and btw, what's with these congressional hearings? they're always so awkward and uncomfortable ๐Ÿ˜ณ. can't we just have a good ol' fashioned discussion without all the drama and tension? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

man I think jordan's being a bit dodgy here ๐Ÿค” he says he leaves it up to the DOJ but let's be real he's been riding this whole Trump probe thing like a broken record and now he just kinda gives an answer that's super vague lol what's his real stance on this? is he actually gonna support Smith or is he just trying to avoid controversy? either way I'm low-key worried about how this is gonna play out in the long run ๐Ÿคž

man i'm getting frustrated with jim jordan he's just dodging the question here ๐Ÿค” what does he really think is going on behind the scenes? it's like he's trying to avoid accountability for republicans who are supposedly 'concerned' about jack smith's investigation... meanwhile, trump's got his own set of problems and still no justice for him ๐Ÿ™„ it's all about politics as usual and not a single shred of transparency ๐Ÿ˜’

๐Ÿค” the whole thing is kinda weird... like, what's up with these politicians always saying they're gonna stay outta something when we all know they're just trying to save their own skins ๐Ÿค‘. Jim Jordan seems like the ultimate example of this - still trying to push his party line even after he had a chance to grill Jack Smith himself ๐Ÿ˜’. but for real though, can't they just be honest for once and say if they think someone's in trouble? instead of playing it coy like that ๐Ÿ™„.

I'm not sure I fully buy into Jim Jordan's nonchalant attitude on this whole thing ๐Ÿค”. Like, it's pretty clear he's got some strong feelings about Jack Smith and the Justice Department's investigation into Trump. It seems like a pretty clear case of one side wanting to get to the bottom of things while the other is just trying to sweep everything under the rug ๐Ÿšฎ.

I mean, come on, Jordan had his chance to grill Smith at that congressional hearing and he still chose not to back down. And now he's just shrugging it off like it's no big deal? I think there's more to this story than meets the eye ๐Ÿ”. The fact that tensions between him and Smith have been ongoing since Smith took office suggests to me that Jordan might be trying to send a message or two ๐Ÿ“ฃ.

It's also interesting to note that Jordan is one of Trump's biggest supporters, so I'm not sure his motivations on this issue are entirely pure ๐Ÿ’ธ. Either way, I'd love to see more concrete evidence before I start accepting Jordan's 'I leave it up to them' stance as a genuine expression of neutrality ๐Ÿ˜.

๐Ÿค” I mean come on, Jim Jordan is just not doing himself any favors here... like, what's the point of even questioning Jack Smith if you're just gonna stick to your guns and say it's out of his hands? ๐Ÿ™„ It's all about politics, right? He's trying to position himself as a defender of Trump, but honestly, it looks like he's just getting in over his head. The more he clings to this stance, the more it's gonna look like he's either trying to avoid accountability or he's just not taking the situation seriously enough... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ What do you guys think? Should Jordan be pushing for some kind of oversight on Smith's investigation or is he just being his usual... let's say "principled" self? ๐Ÿ˜

I donโ€™t usually comment but... I think itโ€™s weird that Jordan is being so vague about this whole thing ๐Ÿค”. He gets to question Jack Smith in a hearing and then just leaves the prosecution part up to the Justice Department? It feels like he's not really taking a stance at all, you know? Like, if he was gonna support or oppose something, he should at least have the guts to say it out loud ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ. And whatโ€™s with the โ€œI leave that up to themโ€ thing? Is he trying to be all neutral and stuff but actually hiding his true feelings? It just seems like a cop-out to me ๐Ÿ˜’.

yeah I feel like jordan is just trying to save face lol, can't really tell if he's being serious or not ๐Ÿค”...anyway I'm curious how this whole thing will play out with smith and the justice department ๐Ÿค‘ it seems like there's a lot of tension between them and I don't know what the end game is here ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

man, can't believe jim jordan is still being super vague about this whole thing ๐Ÿค”. like, isn't it kinda weird how he's sticking to his guns on smith's probe even after smith testified? seems like he's avoiding giving some real answers to the public ๐Ÿ˜’. and honestly, it feels like jim's just trying to shield trump from getting justice for whatever he did with those classified docs ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. i'm all for letting the justice dept do their thing, but come on, give us a break, jordan! we deserve some transparency here ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค” I don't get why Jim Jordan is so tight-lipped about Jack Smith. Like, come on, as a congressman, isn't it your job to be curious? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ If someone's investigating the President, shouldn't you at least want to know more about what that investigation is looking into? It feels like he's hiding something or just not wanting to rock the boat. ๐Ÿ’ธ The whole thing just seems so fishy...

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda surprised Jim Jordan is still sticking to his guns on this one. It feels like a classic case of politicians trying to control the narrative before the facts even come out. The thing is, we don't know what Smith's probe has uncovered yet, and Jordan's already making some pretty big assumptions about it. What if there's something that proves Trump did indeed mishandle classified documents? Wouldn't he want to hear that in a trial? I get where Jordan's coming from as a Republican, but sometimes I feel like they're more concerned with protecting Trump than doing what's best for the country ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
