See ‘Star Wars’ legend react to Acosta’s Darth Vader impression | CNN Business

Mark Hamill, the actor who brought legendary "Star Wars" character Luke Skywalker to life on screen, has opened up about a potential spinoff series centered around his iconic character. During an appearance with CNN's Jim Acosta, Hamill shared his thoughts on the idea of exploring more stories set in the Star Wars universe.

The conversation between Hamill and Acosta took place after Acosta attempted to channel his inner "Star Wars" character by wearing a Darth Vader costume during their interview. The stunt went viral, with many fans reacting to the humorous exchange on social media.

During their discussion, Hamill expressed his enthusiasm for the idea of delving deeper into the Star Wars universe and exploring new stories that could potentially be set in the same time period as the original trilogy. He also hinted at the possibility of revisiting some of the beloved characters from the franchise's past, including Luke Skywalker himself.

When asked about the potential spinoff series, Hamill stated that he would be open to being involved in any project that explores the Star Wars universe in a meaningful way. However, he emphasized the importance of ensuring that any new stories stay true to the spirit of the original films and maintain the integrity of the franchise's beloved characters.

As for Acosta's Darth Vader impression, Hamill good-naturedly poked fun at his colleague's antics, joking that he hoped Acosta would stick to reporting on politicians instead of trying to channel Han Solo.

I gotta say, I'm loving this new direction the Star Wars universe is taking 🚀. A potential spinoff series centered around Luke Skywalker? That sounds like a dream come true for fans like me! I mean, who wouldn't want more stories set in that epic galaxy far, far away? And I love how Mark Hamill is on board with it - he's always been a huge part of the franchise's magic 🎬. But what I'm really excited to see is how they'll balance new stories with staying true to the original films and characters. Can't wait to see what they come up with! 👍

omg can u imagine a luke skywalker spinoff series?! 🤯 i'm totally down for it! i think it'd be sick to explore more of the star wars universe, especially with all the amazing characters we've been introduced to over the years. i'd love to see more of luke's journey, maybe even some new adventures that don't involve han and leia... but still have those iconic moments that make us go "whoa" 😎 acosta was hilarious in his darth vader cosplay tho, gotta give him points for creativity! what do u guys think about a potential luke spinoff? should we see more of this guy's legendary lightsaber duels 💫

🤔 I'm not sure if a Luke Skywalker spinoff is really needed... I mean, we already got the prequels and they didn't exactly set the universe on fire (pun intended). And let's be real, Mark Hamill has been playing Luke for like 40 years now. It's time to move on? Not saying it can't happen, but do we really need more of the same old thing? 🤷‍♂️ Sources on this one, please!

I just saw this news and I'm like totally stoked 🤩! A Luke Skywalker spinoff series? That sounds amazing to me! I mean, we've had so many awesome stories in the Star Wars universe already, but it's always cool to explore new ones. I hope they do something that stays true to the original spirit of the films and doesn't mess with my childhood memories 😊. And lol @ Jim Acosta trying on a Darth Vader costume - that was hilarious! I'm not sure if he should try being Han Solo, though... might be hard for him to rock that whole space smuggler vibe 🚀💁‍♂️. Anyway, can't wait to see what they come up with!

omg can u believe Mark Hamill is actually considering a Luke Skywalker spinoff?! I'm totally down for it 🤩 but we gotta make sure they don't mess up the character like they did with The Force Awakens, you know? I mean, Luke was supposed to be this wise and powerful Jedi Master not some whiny kid 😒. And can we please, please have a spinoff that focuses on the Old Republic era?! That's where all the real magic happens 💫. I'm also here for more Ewok content 🐒, those little guys are the best!

I'm not sure how I feel about a Luke Skywalker spinoff series 🤔... part of me is excited to see more of this iconic character, but another part of me is worried it'll be too much, you know? Like, we already have so many great stories set in the Star Wars universe and I don't want anyone to mess with the magic of the original trilogy 😊. At the same time, if they can come up with something really special that stays true to the spirit of the franchise, I'd be totally on board 🚀. Can you imagine revisiting some of Luke's adventures from the 80s? That would be so cool! 💫

omg i just saw this interview with mark hamill and it was so funny lol he wore down the darth vader costume like acosta did and it cracked me up 🤣 i wonder if they'll actually make a luke skywalker spinoff series tho? i mean, that would be amazing! but what kind of story would they tell about him? would it be set right after the original trilogy or before? idk im just so down for more star wars content 🚀👏

OMG I'm so hyped about this news!!! 🤩 I mean, who wouldn't want more Luke Skywalker content?! I've always had a major crush on Mark Hamill 😍 and I love that he's open to revisiting his iconic character. The idea of exploring new stories set in the Star Wars universe is giving me LIFE 🎉 especially since we're getting older and it's time for some more nostalgic goodness. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see more of Luke's adventures?! I'm shipping this spinoff series ASAP 🚀

😂 I'm loving this idea of a Luke Skywalker spinoff series! It's about time we get more of those awesome space battles and adventures outside of the original trilogy 🚀💫. But you know what would be even cooler? If they got Ian McDiarmid, aka Emperor Palpatine, to reprise his role as the main villain 🤖. Can you imagine Luke facing off against the Sith Lord again?! Mind. Blown. 💥

I'm loving this idea for a Luke Skywalker spinoff series! 🤩 I mean, can you imagine more stories about the guy who helped bring balance to the Force? It's like, we've got so much history with the character already, and now they wanna explore more of it. I think it's dope that Mark Hamill is on board with it too - he knows his stuff and would be super important in bringing any new stories to life.

But for real, who wouldn't want more Star Wars content? 🚀 The franchise has got this amazing hold on people's hearts and minds, and I'm all about giving the fans what they wanna see. As long as it stays true to the spirit of the original films, I'm down for whatever. I mean, can you imagine revisiting some of the old characters like Leia or Han? That would be epic! 💥

🤣 so hamill is down for a luke skwalker spinoff but its gotta be done right or he'll be like "help me obi wan kenobi you're my only hope" and just shut it down lol. i mean it would be cool to see more of the original trilogy characters but we don't wanna mess with the timeline too much so it's gotta be handled carefully. and omg acosta trying on the vader costume was a great idea even if it didn't quite come together 😂

idk why they need another star wars series lol 😂 but mark hamill is like the ultimate expert on the franchise and if he's down for it, i trust him to make sure its done right 🤔. its not like they can just make any old spinoff and expect fans to be stoked... gotta stay true to the original movies and characters 💯. plus, imagine revisiting some of our fave past characters... luke skywalker as a grizzled old man or something? 😮 could be interesting 🤔

🚀 just think about it tho... a Luke Skywalker spinoff series could be awesome! explore the years between ep iv and v, maybe show what happened to luke after he left dagobah 🌿 it'd be cool to see him face new challenges as a hero, not just a jedi master

I'm loving this idea of a Luke Skywalker spinoff series! I think it's time we get some more stories about the OG hero's adventures between Episodes IV and V. Mark Hamill seems like the perfect guy to lead such a project, he knows his character inside out 🚀. The key is to keep it true to the spirit of the original films and not make Luke into some sort of action-hero wannabe. I'd also love to see more of Leia's story or even an Obi-Wan spinoff – the prequels might be a bit rough, but there's definitely some gold hidden in those dusty old scripts 😊. And can you imagine Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) show up as a cameo? That'd be epic!

I wonder if we're just scratching the surface of what it means to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Like, imagine being Luke Skywalker and having your whole existence tied to this epic struggle between good and evil... 🤔 does that make you question the nature of heroism? And then there's this idea of revisiting beloved characters from the past, like, do we get to say goodbye to those characters or is it more like they're just evolving into something new? 🌟 It makes me think about how our identities are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves and others...

omg I'm so hyped about this potential spinoff series!!! 🤩 I mean, can you imagine more Luke Skywalker adventures?! 😍 Mark Hamill is literally the ultimate fanboy, and I love how excited he is about exploring new stories in the Star Wars universe! 💫 He's always been such a loyal advocate for the franchise, and it's awesome to see him get to be involved in something that could bring even more magic to fans like me! 🎥 The idea of revisiting old characters is also giving me all the feels - can we please have a solo Luke Skywalker series?!?! 🚀

omg i'm low-key hyped about mark hamill talking about a new star wars spinoff 🚀🤩 i mean who wouldn't wanna see more luke skywalker adventures? the idea of exploring the same time period as the original trilogy is so interesting, can u imagine what kind of stories could be told? and revisiting old characters? that would be amazing! but for real, any new star wars project has to stay true to the originals, no way wanna see them ruin it 😅 and acosta's darth vader costume was LOL-worthy 🤣 i hope he sticks to reporting on politicians instead of trying to channel han solo lol

I gotta say, I'm not surprised Mark Hamill is talking about another "Star Wars" spinoff. It's been like 40 years since the original trilogy came out and people are still clamoring for more. But let me tell you, it's gotta be done right or else they'll just mess it up like with all those other prequels 🙄. I mean, come on, we've got Luke Skywalker's character already so fully fleshed out from the original films. It's gonna be hard to top that. Still, if anyone can do it, it's Mark Hamill - he's still got that iconic charm and swagger going on 💫. As for Jim Acosta trying to channel his inner "Star Wars" fanboy in a Darth Vader costume... lol, that was cute but also a bit awkward 😂. I guess that's what happens when you're trying to be funny on live TV!
