Sen. Angus King says he won't vote for package with ICE funding, but "we don't have to have a shutdown"

I think this whole situation is super frustrating 🤯! Like, can't they just work together to get stuff done? So many people are gonna lose their jobs or not get paid because of this shutdown. And it's all about politics... I don't get why politicians can't just put aside their differences for once and try to find a compromise that works for everyone 🤔.

I mean, if 96% of the government is funded, what's the big deal? Why can't they just focus on passing those five bills first? It seems like a simple solution. And King's idea about separating the DHS bill from the others could be a game-changer. I hope he's right and this shutdown gets averted... our economy (and my paycheck) depends on it 💸

ICE is such a mess 🤯. I don't think it's cool that some senators are making a big deal about funding the agency, especially when there's already so much at stake with a possible government shutdown. King's suggestion to separate the DHS bill from the others seems like a good starting point - it would allow for a more honest conversation about what needs to be fixed. And let's be real, 96% of the government being funded is still way better than nothing 😅. I hope Schumer and Thune can work together (or at least not make things worse) so we can avoid that shutdown altogether 💥
