Senator speaks out about his struggle with depression | CNN Politics

Mental health 101: now that all the 'tough guys' are sharing their struggles with depression 🤣👀. Fetterman's got balls for speaking up about it, I'll give him that 💪. It's like, finally someone in a position of power is saying "you know what? I'm not okay, and that's okay". And honestly, can we just reduce the stigma around mental health issues already? 🤦‍♂️ I mean, if senators are talking about depression, maybe young people will be more likely to do the same too. Fingers crossed it sparks a conversation 🤞

🤔 I'm glad John Fetterman is speaking out about his struggles with depression. It takes a lot of courage to share personal stuff like this, especially for someone in the public eye. But, you know, it's kinda weird that he only starts talking about mental health now, after winning an election? 🤷‍♂️ I mean, can't we assume he was dealing with some level of stress and pressure before then too? And how many therapy sessions did he really need to get him from "downward spiral" to "okay"? 💔 Still, I appreciate the message about prioritizing mental health and not being afraid to ask for help. It's super important that we normalize talking about these kinds of issues, especially among young people 🌟

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s so brave of John Fetterman to be honest about his depression 🤗. As someone who's experienced their own struggles with anxiety, I can relate to feeling like you're living in a bubble and struggling to cope with expectations. It's easy to put on a mask and pretend everything is fine, but that's not healthy for you or those around you 💆‍♀️. Fetterman's story shows us that it's okay to ask for help and prioritize your mental health – we should all be supporting each other in doing so 🤝. It's time to break the stigma around mental health issues and encourage people, especially young folks, to speak out about their struggles 💪
