Shania Twain Seeks To Revolutionize Country Music With Call For Inclusivity And Diversity.
Country music icon Shania Twain used her acceptance speech at the recent CMT Awards to advocate for a more inclusive and diverse industry, praising artists like Lily Rose, Lindsay Ell, Hailey Whitters, Mickey Guyton, among others. While receiving the Equal Play Award, Twain expressed her gratitude towards the LGBTQ+ community who have rallied behind her iconic anthem "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!", highlighting its powerful impact.
Twain stated that she had no idea at the time of writing the phrase that it would become an empowering message for decades to come. The phrase has been adopted by various communities worldwide, turning into a beacon of power and joy for Twain. She also emphasized her belief in an all-inclusive country music scene where artists are "family."
The legendary singer emphasized that she will continue to work as a trailblazer, ensuring that fellow artists receive equal play irrespective of their background. This sentiment was echoed during her performance on stage with The BoykinZ, African American singing group consisting of sisters who rose to fame recently.
Twain's efforts aim to address the industry standard, which Twain believes does disservice to this genre that nurtured her own career from childhood. With her "Queen of Me" tour spotlighting diverse acts like these talented artists, Twain is striving for a revolution in country music - one that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

! It's about time we see more representation in country music, you know? I mean, remember when Dolly Parton used to be the only female country artist on the radar? Now it's all about diversity and inclusivity, and I couldn't be happier

THE FACT THAT SHE'S USING HER PLATFORM TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT THESE ISSUES IS TRULY INSPIRING. I LOVE HOW SHE MENTIONS ARTISTS LIKE LILY ROSE, MICKY GUYTON, AND HAILEY WHITTERS AS EXAMPLES OF THE TALENT IN THE INDUSTRY. IT'S TIME FOR COUNTRY MUSIC TO EVOLVE AND REFLECT THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY!

I'm not sure I agree with Shania Twain's idea to make country music all about being 'family'. What if it means watering down the authentic sound of the genre? Country music has always been a reflection of its roots, and some of those roots might be uncomfortable or difficult to talk about. By trying to force everyone into one big happy family, we're gonna lose what makes country music unique in the first place

. Country music isn't just about the genre - it's about people, experiences, and emotions. If we can get more artists from different backgrounds on stage, that's going to make country music way more interesting (and relatable) for everyone

... Like, we've been hearing about diversity and inclusion for years now, and where was this movement when Twain was starting out? Still, kudos to her for using her platform to speak up now. The fact that she's highlighting artists like Lily Rose and Mickey Guyton is a great start
