Sony, Warner and Universal sign AI music licensing deals with startup Klay

Three of the world's biggest music labels - Sony, Warner, and Universal - have announced licensing deals with Klay Vision, a little-known startup based in Los Angeles, marking another significant development in the rapidly evolving music industry.

The partnerships, which involve the publishing arms of each label, are aimed at further developing AI-generated music experiences for fans while respecting the rights of artists, songwriters, and rightsholders. This move is part of the growing trend of using artificial intelligence to create new music, which has seen AI singers and bands climb the charts after racking up millions of streams.

The licensing deals with Klay Vision will help "further evolve music experiences for fans" by leveraging the potential of AI in a way that is fair and transparent. However, few details have been released about the agreements or what Klay does exactly.

The deal follows recent announcements from Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group, both of which have signed licensing deals with other startups involved in AI-generated music. The developments come after the labels previously sued Suno and Udio, makers of two popular AI song generation tools, over copyright infringement allegations.

Warner Music Group recently resolved its copyright infringement litigation against Udio and is now teaming up with the company to develop a licensed AI music creation service set to launch in 2026. The service will allow users to remix tunes by established artists while providing new revenue streams for artists and songwriters, who will be credited and paid when their work is used.

Similar agreements have been made between Universal Music Group and Udio, with the latter announcing that it would remain a "closed-system" as it prepares for its launch. If artists and songwriters choose to let their works be used, they will be credited and paid when users remix or cover their songs or create new tunes using their voices and compositions.

The partnerships have led to fluctuations in the stock prices of the involved companies, with Sony's stock down 2.3 percent, Warner Music Group down 2 percent, and Universal Music Group down 0.3 percent at midday trading.

come on guys, AI music is just getting started ๐Ÿค–๐ŸŽต i mean think about it, human artists are getting paid for using AI generated beats or whatever and its like a win win situation... but what happens when the AI gets better than us? like, if some AI can create a hit song that even the pros can't touch, do we just give up our jobs ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ธ

This is so exciting ๐Ÿคฏ I mean, we're talking about the big three labels getting on board with AI-generated music, which is basically like the future of music imo ๐Ÿ˜‚. But seriously, it's cool to see them trying to figure out how to make this work without screwing over the artists and songwriters. The idea of a licensed service where users can remix tunes by established artists and get paid credit seems like a pretty sweet deal for everyone involved ๐ŸŽถ.

I'm curious to know more about Klay Vision, though - what exactly do they do? And how are these deals gonna shake things up in the music industry? Maybe this is the spark that gets us into a whole new era of creativity and collaboration ๐Ÿ’ก. One thing's for sure, it's gonna be interesting to see how this all plays out ๐Ÿ˜Ž

AI is literally changing the game! ๐Ÿค– These big music labels are finally catching up with the times by teaming up with startups like Klay Vision. It's about time they find a way to use AI to create new music experiences for fans while still respecting the rights of artists and songwriters. I'm low-key excited to see what kind of sick beats come out of this collab ๐Ÿ’ฅ

And can we talk about how these deals are gonna revolutionize remixing? ๐ŸŽต Imagine being able to remix your fave artist's track with their permission, and getting paid for it too! It's like a dream come true. The whole Udio thing was kinda shady, but if they're making moves now, I'm here for it ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Stock prices are fluctuating, but I think this is just the beginning of something huge ๐Ÿ“ˆ These labels need to stay on top of the game and keep innovating. We're living in a new era of music creation, and I'm hyped to see what's next! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

I'm not convinced about these AI music startups yet ๐Ÿค”. I mean, what's really going on here? These labels are just trying to stay relevant in a changing industry, but they're playing it too safe. They're not giving us much info about how Klay Vision is gonna work or what the benefits are for artists and songwriters. And what about copyright infringement again? Those two startups already got sued over this stuff... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ How come there's no more scrutiny on these new players? Want some concrete data on their track record before I get all jazzed up about AI music ๐ŸŽต

๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ’ธ I think this is a game changer for the music industry! AI-generated music is where it's at now, and these big labels are finally catching up with the times ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. It's crazy to think that we're going to have licensed AI music creation services popping up left and right in no time ๐Ÿ’ฅ. The idea of users being able to remix established artist tunes while giving credit and pay to the actual creators is genius ๐Ÿคฉ. And can you imagine the new revenue streams for artists and songwriters? It's like a whole new world of opportunities! But at the same time, I'm a bit worried about how this all will play out... what does it mean for "original" music? ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ‘€

just think about it ๐Ÿคฏ these big music labels are getting into AI-generated music like crazy! its like they're trying to stay relevant in the streaming world ๐Ÿ“Š and i gotta say, i'm both excited and a little concerned about what this means for the music industry as a whole ๐ŸŽถ. on one hand, its cool that they're partnering with startups like Klay Vision to create new music experiences for fans ๐Ÿคฉ but on the other hand, how do we ensure that artists and songwriters are getting fair credit and payment for their work? ๐Ÿ’ธ its like they're playing catch-up with technology and i wonder what the future holds for this rapidly evolving industry ๐ŸŒ.

omg i'm lowkey hyped about this new deal between Klay Vision and those big music labels ๐Ÿคฉ! I think it's so cool that they're gonna make AI-generated music experiences for fans even better, but also make sure artists and songwriters get the credit and pay they deserve ๐ŸŽต๐Ÿ’ธ. I've been using Udio's tool in school and it's literally changed how i learn about music theory... can't wait to see what Klay Vision comes up with ๐Ÿ’ก

AI is getting closer to changing the music industry! ๐Ÿค– I think it's cool that these major labels are teaming up with startups like Klay Vision to make AI-generated music experiences more accessible to fans while still respecting artists' rights. It's a good move, but I'm also curious to know how they'll balance creative freedom with fair compensation for creators... ๐Ÿ‘€

idk why these labels are rushing into ai music like this ๐Ÿค”... dont they see how easy it is to get scammed by some AI generator ๐Ÿค‘๐ŸŽต? i mean, im all for pushing the boundaries of tech and art, but let's not forget about the creators who actually make the magic happen ๐Ÿ’ซ. these startups are just profiting off the work of others without even giving them credit ๐Ÿ™„. and now we got labels teaming up with them to develop services that sound like a dream come true... sounds too good to be true, right? ๐Ÿค” also, whats up with udio being all secretive about its new service? what do they really have planned? ๐Ÿ’ญ

๐Ÿค” think its interesting how the music labels are getting into AI-generated music...like, whats the end goal here? Is it just about making more money or is there something more to it? ๐Ÿค‘ Also, I feel like we're heading towards a world where humans and AI collaborate on music instead of one or the other...not sure if thats a good thing or not ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿค” I'm not super comfy about AI-generated music taking off like this... I mean, I get it, tech is advancing and all that ๐Ÿš€. But don't you think we're gonna lose some of the soul in music? Like, those little-known startups are basically using AI to create songs without even needing real people to make them... it's just not the same ๐ŸŽถ.

And what about the artists who do care about their work being used? I mean, they might not be able to control how their songs get remixed or whatever... It's a bit worrying for me ๐Ÿ’”. But at the same time, if it means more people listening and enjoying music, maybe it's worth it ๐ŸŽต?

๐Ÿค” these labels are finally getting on board the AI music train ๐Ÿš‚... can't wait to see what kinda innovative music we'll get out of this ๐Ÿ˜Ž... btw, gonna be interesting to see how Klay Vision's 'closed-system' thing plays out with Udio & Warner... don't wanna hear about any more lawsuits over copyright infringement ๐Ÿค‘... hopefully the rights of artists & songwriters are protected in all these deals ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I'm telling you, this is like, a total setup ๐Ÿค”. Those big music labels are just trying to get in on the AI-generated music trend before someone else does... but what's really going on here? They're not just partnering with some random startup, they're trying to control the narrative and shape the industry to their advantage ๐Ÿค‘. And have you seen the stock prices of those companies lately? It's like they're buying low on some sort of AI-generated music bubble ๐Ÿ’ธ. Mark my words, this is gonna end in a big mess... just wait and see ๐Ÿ”ฎ.

This AI music thing is getting crazy ๐Ÿคฏ! It's like the music labels are trying to outsmart each other with these licensing deals. I mean, who needs humans when you can just create music on a computer, right? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just kidding, kinda. But seriously, it's cool that they're trying to find ways to make AI-generated music experiences more fair and transparent. On the bright side, maybe we'll finally get our own AI version of Justin Bieber to take over the world... just kidding, no one wants that ๐Ÿคช

omg what a crazy move by these music labels! ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, AI-generated music is already kinda mainstream now and it's awesome to see the big players get in on the action. but at the same time, i'm a bit worried about how this is all gonna shake out - like, are we really gonna be able to balance out the rights of artists with the potential for new revenue streams? ๐Ÿค” also idk what klay vision does exactly lol did they just kinda stumble into a lucrative deal? ๐Ÿค‘ anyways, i'm hyped to see how this whole thing plays out! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

dunno how these labels can just make deals with some startup they've never even heard of... AI-generated music is cool I guess, but what about the artists who actually created the songs in the first place? like, if I download a song that was made by an AI, am I still obligated to pay royalties to the human who wrote it or the AI that generated it? ๐Ÿค”โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŽต

omg u guys can u believe it?? big 3 music labels are teaming up with ai startup Klay Vision ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŽถ like wat's next? gonna make all our fave artists create music on their own ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ, or is this the future of music lol meanwhile, i'm low-key excited to see how this whole AI-generated music thing turns out ๐Ÿค”
