Space Harrier at 40: how Segaโ€™s surreal classic brought total immersion to arcades in the 80s

omg i'm totally stoked about space harrier!!! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ’ฅ it's like whoa to think that this game came out 40 yrs ago & still blows our minds today!!! sega was literally a genius w/ this game, innovating tech w/ the super scaler animation system & the motion cabinet that put players in the cockpit ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป i remember playing this at arcades as a teen & trying 2 beat my high score lol ๐Ÿ“บ it's amazing how space harrier still inspires new gens of gamers & its surreal vibe is totally timeless ๐ŸŒŒ what's not 2 love about a game that lets u fly through psychedelic landscapes w/ aliens & weird creatures? ๐Ÿ˜†

I'm still amazed by how revolutionary Space Harrier was back in the day ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, who would have thought that a game with such trippy visuals and sounds could be so ridiculously addictive? ๐ŸŽฎ The way they blended traditional shooters with flight simulators and rollercoasters is pure genius โ€“ it's like Suzuki-san knew what we wanted without us even knowing ourselves ๐Ÿ˜‚.

And let's talk about the motion cabinet, man... that thing was like a whole new level of gaming experience ๐Ÿ’ฅ. I can only imagine how intense it must have been to play with those 2 motors responding to your every move ๐Ÿš€. It's no wonder Space Harrier is still widely regarded as one of the greatest arcade games of all time ๐ŸŽ‰.

But what's really wild is how timeless this game has remained โ€“ even after all these years, new generations are still discovering its magic โœจ. I'm not surprised that arcades keep popping up again and again, as people always seem to crave that authentic gaming experience ๐ŸŽฎ.

One thing that got me thinking, though: what would be the equivalent of Space Harrier in today's gaming landscape? Something that can match its sense of immersion and wonder... do we still have those kinds of experiences in VR or something? ๐Ÿค”

I'm still blown away by how pioneering Space Harrier was ๐Ÿคฏ It's crazy to think that this game, released way back in '85, is still pushing boundaries today. I mean, its use of motion cabinets was pure genius โ€“ no wonder it felt like you were actually inside the cockpit ๐Ÿš€ The surreal landscapes and abstract enemies are so mesmerizing, even 40 years later.

It's a shame more modern games aren't inspired by this innovative approach to gaming ๐Ÿ˜” I think we've lost some of that magic with our current focus on realism and high-end graphics. We should be pushing the boundaries of what's possible, not just chasing after fancy visuals ๐Ÿ’ป

I'm so glad Space Harrier is still remembered fondly today ๐Ÿ‘ It's amazing how it can transport you back to a bygone era of gaming greatness ๐ŸŽฎ Can't wait to see if future games can recapture some of that magic ๐Ÿ”ฅ

omg i still get chills thinking about space harrier lol its like playing a rollercoaster game ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ˜ฒ and can you believe its been 40 yrs since it came out?! like, that tech was super ahead of its time ๐Ÿค– the way they used super scaler to create depth and the motion cabinet thingy... it's wild how much of an impact it had on gaming ๐Ÿ“บ i mean, who else but sega would dare try something so crazy ๐Ÿ˜Ž now those arcade machines are super rare & hard to find, sadly ๐Ÿ‘€ but its awesome that we still have ppl like yu suzuki pushing the limits of what's possible in games ๐Ÿ’ฅ

omg can you believe how rare space harrier cabinets are now lol like i was lucky enough to play them back in the day and now they're basically collector's items 40 years on and still they don't even have an online emu version yet what's the deal? it's like sega just kinda left it behind... anyway, space harrier will always be a masterpiece ๐Ÿคฏ
