President Trump has commuted former Representative George Santos's prison sentence, citing concerns over the lawmaker's treatment while incarcerated. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that Santos had been subjected to "horrible mistreatment" in solitary confinement and expressed his support for the disgraced politician.

Santos, 37, was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. The move has sparked controversy, with many questioning why Trump intervened on behalf of a lawmaker who had been embroiled in multiple scandals, including misusing campaign funds for personal expenses.

A senior White House official told NBC News that the decision was driven by "hearings from numerous individuals" in recent days, adding that it's ultimately up to Trump. Santos's lawyer described the commutation as a result of his client's "suffering" during prosecution, claiming his sentence was "draconian".

Santos had previously been elected to Congress in 2022 after flipping a Democratic seat on Long Island. However, his political career ended when the House Ethics Committee found evidence he misused campaign funds for personal reasons. He was subsequently voted out of office by the full House.

The decision has raised questions over Trump's motives and whether it represents an attempt to influence the outcome of Santos's upcoming prison sentence release.

omg u guys i just cant even right now 🀯 like what is trump thinkin?? he just commuted george santos's sentence for some bs about mistreatment in solitary confinement but honestly isnt that just what happens to all inmates who arent popular ppl? πŸ€” and santos was already serving 87 months lol that doesnt seem so "draconian" to me anymore... idk whats goin on with trumps motives tho is he tryna pull a fast one before his own prison sentence is over or watever πŸ˜’

I'm so done with this! πŸ™„ Trump is just trying to distract us from all his other shenanigans, you know? He thinks he can just commute George Santos's sentence because Santos was treated unfairly in jail? Like, what about the unfair treatment of everyday people who don't have a billionaire's pull? πŸ€‘ I'm not buying it. And let's be real, if Trump really cared about Santos's "suffering" during prosecution, why didn't he do anything when he was in office and had all the power? πŸ€” This whole thing just reeks of nepotism and cronyism. The fact that Santos was even able to plead guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in the first place is just wild. 😲 Can we please just hold our politicians accountable for their actions? πŸ’―

omg, cant believe trump is doing this 🀯, like what about all the other politicians who messed up? seems like trumps got a soft spot for ppl in trouble... 37 yrs old and already served 87 months, thats still a lot of time behind bars 🚫. dont get me wrong, gotta feel bad for santos and all, but come on, didnt he break some laws?! πŸ€”. its just weird that trump is stepping in like this, like what does he gain from it? πŸ€‘

I'm thinking that Trump is trying to use Santos's case as a PR move, you know? Like he's doing this to make himself look all heroic and stuff πŸ€”. But let's be real, Santos was in some serious trouble for his own reasons and now he gets a free pass just because Trump said so... it doesn't sit right with me πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.

It's also kinda weird that the White House official is trying to spin this as if Trump just happened upon all these "hearing" from people, like they're totally credible πŸ’―. And what about Santos's own lawyer saying he was suffering in prison? Did Trump or his team actually talk to him directly? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I think we need more info on how this whole thing went down before we can even start speculating on Trump's motives 😏. But for now, I'm just gonna say that it seems pretty suspicious πŸ’Έ.

Ugh, I'm so done with these power plays πŸ™„... I mean, can't we just have a simple prison system? Anyway, commuting Santos's sentence feels like a major overreach to me 🀯. I get that Trump wants to show support for his buddy, but 87 months is still way too long! 😩 And what really gets my formatting freak flag waving is the lack of transparency around this whole thing. Where are the receipts? How did "numerous individuals" come up with these concerns about Santos's treatment in prison? πŸ€” I need to see some solid facts and figures before I even start discussing this further... and honestly, I'm already pretty formatted out for today πŸ˜’

I think this whole thing is a big misunderstanding πŸ€”. Trump isn't trying to help Santos, he's just standing up for someone who's been treated unfairly πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, can you imagine being in solitary confinement and not having anyone to talk to? It sounds super lonely and harsh 🚫. Plus, 87 months is a pretty long sentence, so it's not like Trump is suddenly going to make everything okay for Santos πŸ™„.

It's also worth considering that Santos was already in big trouble with the law, and now he gets to serve his sentence while still having some hope 🌞. I get why people are skeptical, but maybe we should try to see things from another perspective πŸ€”? Trump isn't trying to give Santos a free pass, just ease him into his sentence after being subjected to harsh conditions 😐.

omg i cant even believe what hes doing 🀯 like whats going on with this guy? santos was already in trouble for some big time scams and then trump just commutes his prison sentence because hes "suffering" while incarcerated?? sounds like a whole lot of BS to me πŸ˜‚. i mean i get that we should try to treat people humanely, but come on, he got what was coming to him. this whole thing is giving me major "isn't trump a joke anymore?" vibes 🀣

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🀯... I mean, what's next? Everyone getting a second chance just 'cause they were treated unfairly in prison? It's all so... familiar πŸ˜• reminds me of that one episode of "Law & Order" where the DA gets cold feet and lets the guilty guy go free. Not that I'm saying Trump is wrong or anything (he's not, you know?), but it does feel like a lot of dΓ©jΓ  vu. Anyway, I guess only time will tell if this whole thing blows up in his face πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ...

can't believe trump just commuted santos's sentence lol like what exactly did he do that was so bad? seems like just another way for him to stir up drama πŸ˜‚ meanwhile, this is kinda concerning - we're supposed to be talking about new gadgets and tech updates instead of politician drama πŸ€– has anyone heard anything about the upcoming release of the new razer blade?

this is so weird πŸ€―πŸ‘€ trump is being super generous with santos' prison time πŸš«πŸ˜’ i mean who gets commuted for mistreatment in solitary 😴? it seems like trump wants to get good vibes from santos' supporters 🀝🏻 or maybe he's trying to distract us from something else πŸ€‘πŸ‘€

I'm all for Santos getting off scot-free! I mean, who hasn't been mistreated in solitary confinement, right? 🀣 It's not like he broke any laws that would actually be considered serious crimes or anything. And come on, 87 months is a joke! I bet Trump knows what he's talking about when it comes to harsh punishment... NOT! πŸ˜‚ The guy commuted his own sentence once and now this. He's basically saying "I'm above the law" and I am HERE. FOR. IT! πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ

omg what's up with these politicians and their drama 🀯 i mean i get that they gotta deal with some crazy stuff, but can't they just keep it together? anyway i was thinking about my favorite pizza place recently and how much i love their truffle oil topping πŸ•πŸ˜‹ have you guys ever tried it? it's game changer. anyway back to this Santos guy... seems like he's got some serious baggage πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ what's up with his campaign funds? did he really think he could get away with that? πŸ€‘

I'm so down with this move by Trump, totally unfair that Santos had to go through solitary confinement 🀣, I mean who hasn't had a bad day locked away from the world? And 87 months is a pretty harsh sentence if you ask me, I think he's getting off too easy, I'd be more mad at him than anything. Plus, it's not like Trump's doing this out of the goodness of his heart or anything, no way, he's probably got some kinda plan to get Santos on his team 🀝 and help him run for office again. And honestly, who cares if Santos has been involved in scandals? We all mess up sometimes, right? πŸ™ƒ

I'm low-key shocked that Trump commuted Santos's sentence 🀯. I mean, we all know Santos was involved in some sketchy stuff, but 87 months is a pretty big deal? I think it's kinda weird that Trump stepped in to help him out now that he's gonna be free soon... like, wasn't he the one saying Santos got "horrible mistreatment" while incarcerated just last week? πŸ€” It sounds like Trump is trying to spin this as some kind of sympathetic move, but honestly, it feels kinda selfish. I'm not sure what's going on here, and it's leaving a lot of people scratching their heads πŸ˜•

πŸ€” I'm not sure what's going on with President Trump's latest move, commuting George Santos's prison sentence 🚫. It seems like a lot of people are pretty upset about it, considering all the scandals Santos has been involved in πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, 87 months is still a long time for someone who misused campaign funds and lied about their identity... but I guess Trump thinks Santos was treated unfairly while he was locked up? 😐

It's also weird that Trump is intervening on behalf of a politician who has been involved in so many controversies πŸ€”. Some people are saying it's just about Santos suffering during prosecution, but others think it might be an attempt to influence his release from prison πŸš”.

Honestly, I don't know what's going through Trump's head with this one... but I do hope it doesn't set a bad precedent for future politicians πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. The public deserves transparency and accountability, not commutations just because someone says they were mistreated πŸ™„

Man, can you believe this? President Trump is trying to butter up George Santos before he gets released from prison. Like, dude, didn't you get burned by him when he got caught with fake ID and all that drama? 🀣 Anyway, I guess we're supposed to feel bad for Santos because of how hard time was on him in solitary confinement... poor guy's been through a lot, but come on, 87 months is still a looong sentence! πŸ˜‚ And what's with the commutation? Is Trump trying to make amends or just give his buddy a sweet deal? πŸ€‘ Either way, I'm sure it'll all be fun and games when Santos gets out... maybe he can even join Trump on one of those golf trips! πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ

just thinkin what's goin on here πŸ€”... trump doin this for george santos? seems suspicious to me... did he really care about santos gettin mistreated in jail or is there somethin more goin on? πŸ€‘ anyway, 87 months is still a long time... dont think santos deserve that kinda deal after all the lies and scandals hes been involved in πŸ˜’ but i guess that's up to trump & washington now πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ [see more about george santos scandal here](https://www.cnn.com/politics/2022/09/23/george-santos-house-ethics-committee-investigation-intl/index.html)

man I'm just confused why trump is gonna save george santos like that? he got caught with some major scandals and now he's getting a free pass? 87 months in the can isn't too harsh for someone who lied about his whole life, you feel? it's like trump thinks he's above the law or something. I get that maybe santos did get treated unfairly while he was locked up, but shouldn't that be handled through the system? this whole thing just reeks of trump trying to sway an election... πŸ€”
