So like, the US is trying to send a strong message to Iran by having these diplomats visit the aircraft carrier, right? 
But at the same time, it's like, they're still talking to each other and trying to find common ground... or something.

It's all about balance, you know?
Like, the US doesn't want to be seen as too aggressive, but they also can't let Iran get away with doing what they think is bad... it's a tough spot to be in.
