Ukraine says that restricting Russian use of Starlink satellite internet has delivered "real results" in its battle against Moscow's ongoing invasion. The Ukrainian defence minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, praised SpaceX founder Elon Musk for swiftly responding to the problem with the Russian-operated drones equipped with Starlink connectivity.
According to reports from Ukraine, which operate at low altitudes and are difficult to shoot down, the drones were linked to recent deadly attacks by Russia on the country. These attacks included a drone strike on a moving passenger train that killed six people.
Fedorov stated that Musk's actions had "delivered real results" after Starlink was restricted in Ukraine. The Russian military uses Starlink to provide high-speed internet to the front lines, making it difficult for Ukrainian forces to counter with electronic warfare.
The Ukrainian government is now preparing a white list of approved Starlink satellite terminals which could operate in Ukraine, all unregistered terminals will be disconnected.
Musk has repeatedly been at odds with Ukraine over its use of SpaceX's technology, and had previously denied the Ukrainian military access to Starlink internet in Crimea.
