US agrees to drop tariffs after India stops Russian oil purchases

US President Donald Trump has announced a trade deal with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which includes the slashing of US tariffs on India's goods to 18% from 50%. As part of this agreement, Modi agreed to stop buying Russian oil and increase purchases of American energy products.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that he had agreed to lower tariffs in exchange for an end to Russia-linked trade barriers and the purchase of more than $500 billion worth of US goods. Indian exports to the United States are expected to see a significant boost as a result of this deal.

The news comes less than a week after India and the European Union announced a landmark free trade agreement, which is set to double EU exports to India by 2032. However, not everyone is celebrating the new deal - a coalition of US small businesses has criticized the announcement, saying it locks in a rate six times higher than what they were paying a year ago.

Trump's trade policies have been a source of tension with several countries, including India and the European Union. The agreement with Modi is seen as an attempt to ease some of these tensions and provide relief for US businesses that have struggled under Trump's tariffs policies.

The Russian oil-linked tariffs will be dropped as part of this deal, according to a White House official. Indian imports from Russia are expected to decline significantly, while American energy exports to India are likely to increase.

just think about it... when we're in a tough spot like US businesses were under Trump's tariffs policies, it's easy to get frustrated and want to protect ourselves. but does that really help us in the long run? isn't it more beneficial to work together with others and find common ground? this trade deal between India and the US is all about finding mutually beneficial solutions 🤝. and yeah, it might seem like a small concession from Modi's side, but trust me, it's all part of building those relationships 💡...

🤔 just great another trade deal with no real details on who's really benefiting... US small businesses are already whining about the 18% tariff, but I'd rather see some concrete action on reducing inflation 📉💸 and supporting workers here at home. All this hype over $500 billion in exports seems like just a fancy number to me... where's the real math? 💸📊

So the US and India are finally making some progress on trade 🤦‍♂️, but let's get the facts straight here... the 50% tariff is still way too high for Indian goods, it's not like they're going from zero to hero overnight 💸. And what about the EU's free trade agreement with India? That's a whole different ball game 🤔. I mean, doubling EU exports by 2032 is a big deal, and we shouldn't be focusing on Trump's little victory dance with Modi 😏. Let's not forget that US small businesses are still paying six times more for their imports than they did last year... that's the real issue here 🤑. Anyway, I guess this is progress or whatever 👍.

🤔 I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised by this trade deal between the US and India. On one hand, it's great for US businesses that rely on export markets, especially in energy products 🚀. But at the same time, I feel like we're just making it easier for big corporations to make even more money off Indian consumers without much benefit to everyday people 🤑. And what about all those small businesses that are already struggling under Trump's tariffs policies? It feels like they're getting left behind 🤷‍♂️. Not sure if this deal is going to do as much good for the average Joe as it does for corporate America 💸

Just read about the new trade deal between US and India 🤔... seems like it's a win-win for both countries I guess 💸 Trump's going all out to boost his "America First" agenda, but it's hard to say if this deal will really have a lasting impact on global markets 📈 Indian exports are gonna see a big surge now that they won't be paying 50% tariffs anymore 😅 But on the flip side, there's some pushback from US small businesses saying they're still gonna feel the pinch with those higher-than-usual rates 💸 Anyways, gotta keep an eye on how this all plays out...

omg can't believe trump actually did it 🤯! finally someone's listening to the US small businesses, i mean we all know how those tariffs were screwing them over 💸👎 it's about time he came around and reduced those rates to 18% instead of 50% like what was happening. but let's not forget india is getting a sweet deal too, $500 billion worth of us goods? that's some serious love 🤗 american energy products are gonna make bank in india now. can't wait to see how this plays out, hope it brings some real relief to those businesses 😊

I THINK IT'S AWESOME THAT THE US AND INDIA ARE FINALLY GETTING THIS TRADE DEAL TOGETHER!!! 🤩 I MEAN, 18% TARIFFS IS A HUGE RELIEF FOR INDIAN EXPORTERS AND IT'S GOING TO OPEN UP A WHOLE LOT OF NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH COUNTRIES. AND THE FACT THAT MODI AGREED TO STOP BUYING Russian OIL AND INCREASE PURCHASES OF AMERICAN ENERGY PRODUCTS IS JUST ANOTHER WIN-WIN SCENARIO! 💸

🤔 I'm curious about the trade deal between the US and India 🇺🇸🇮🇳. The 18% tariff reduction is a good move for Indian exporters, but it's interesting that some small businesses in the US are worried about paying higher rates now 😬. It just goes to show how different industries can have different perspectives on trade deals 💼. On the other hand, if India starts buying more American energy products, that could be a win-win for both countries 🌞💚. What do you think about this deal?

can't believe trump just saved the day for american businesses in india lol 🤑 these tariffs were a total nightmare for our entrepreneurs but now they can breathe easy and focus on growing their business again 💪 meanwhile indian imports from russia are gonna take a hit, that's gotta be good for global energy stability ⚡️ also, did anyone think india was just gonna sit back and let them walk all over em? 🤔 modi is smart, btw, negotiating deals like this shows he's not afraid to stand up for his country 🇮🇳

🤔 So, I'm thinking... a 50% tariff reduction is pretty sweet for Indian goods, but it's not like US small businesses got anything out of the deal 🤑 Those tariffs were super high, and now they're locked in at almost double what they paid last year 😬 Guess that's just part of the cost of playing global politics. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this affects Indian exports to the States... they're expected to boom! 💸 The EU free trade deal is another thing, though - do we really want more cheap EU goods flooding in? 🛍️

I gotta say, I'm kinda surprised by all the backlash against Trump's trade deal with Modi 🤔. People are saying it's gonna hurt US small businesses big time because of those high tariffs 🤑. But, I mean, think about it... 18% is still a pretty low rate, and it's way better than what they were paying before 😅. Plus, India's getting some sweet energy deals out of the deal, and that's always good for someone 👍. And let's be real, Trump's trying to ease tensions here, so I'm all for that 🤝. The EU's got their own free trade deal with India, but that's a whole different ball game ⚽️. What I don't get is why people are being so harsh on Trump 👎... can't we just cut him some slack? 😊

🤞💰 I'm thinking the US-India trade deal is like a double win for both countries - not only does it help ease tensions and bring in more American goods, but also shows that India's willing to work with the US on global issues... especially Russia 🌎💪

🤔 This trade deal between the US and India is definitely a interesting development, especially with the reduction in tariffs on Indian goods to 18% 📉. It's also great news for US businesses that have been affected by Trump's tariffs policies ⚖️. The fact that Modi agreed to stop buying Russian oil and increase purchases of American energy products shows that India is willing to make some concessions to ease tensions with the US 💨.

However, I'm a bit skeptical about the impact on small businesses in the US 🤔. If they're saying it's locking in a rate six times higher than what they were paying a year ago, then that's not exactly positive news for them 😐. The EU-India free trade agreement is also worth keeping an eye on - will this deal with Modi be seen as a response to that? 🤝 Only time will tell!

omg, can u believe trump just slashed the tariffs on india's goods 🤯?! now indian exporters get to sell their stuff in us without breaking the bank 💸! but at the same time, some small businesses r gonna struggle cuz they were paying way less than this new rate 😬. and what about china tho? don't think trump's done anything for them yet 🙄.

🌟 I'm loving the vibes around this new trade deal between the US and India! It's all about finding common ground and growing economies together 🤝. 500 billion dollars worth of goods is a huge win for US businesses, and let's be real, who doesn't love a good bargain 💸? The fact that Modi agreed to ditch Russian oil and go for American energy products is like the ultimate seal of approval for Trump's policies 👍.

I'm also super stoked about the EU-India free trade agreement 🌈. It's amazing how these countries can come together, put aside their differences, and create something truly awesome 💥. And hey, a six-fold decrease in tariffs for US small businesses is like a breath of fresh air 💨. Trump may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but this deal shows that even the most unlikely partners can make it work 🤝. Fingers crossed more countries follow suit! 🤞

man, this trade deal is kinda crazy 🤯... on one hand, it's awesome that the US is gonna get more business with India and can start importing some sweet energy products 💨, but on the other hand, small businesses in the US are already saying they're getting screwed because of these tariffs... I mean, 18% might not seem so bad, but six times higher than what they were paying a year ago is still a big deal 🤑... and let's be real, we all know how trade policies can get super complicated and hurt people in the end 💸... I guess this deal is trying to ease some of that tension between India and the US, but it's also worth noting that India just landed another sweet free trade agreement with the EU 🤝... so who knows what's really gonna happen? 🤔

can you believe trump is trying to make amends with india after all the drama he had with china and europe? it's kinda cool that they're agreeing on this trade deal, especially since india is such a big market for us. the fact that they're slashing those tariffs from 50% to 18% is a huge win for indian exports to the US - i'm sure many indian businesses are gonna benefit from this 🤩

i've been hearing mixed reviews about trump's trade policies, but it looks like he's trying to pivot and find some common ground with other countries. the EU and india just signed that free trade agreement, which is huge for both parties...but then again, some us small businesses are complaining about the rate being six times higher than what they were paying a year ago? gotta keep an eye on this one 🤔

I'm not sure how big of a deal this trade agreement is for the US or India... I mean, 18% tariffs on Indian goods seems like a pretty steep price to pay for increased energy purchases 🤔. And what's really going on here is that US businesses are basically being forced to pay more for imports just so the gov can squeeze some cash from Russia 🤑. The EU free trade agreement with India sounds way more appealing, if you ask me - double exports by 2032? That's a game-changer 💸. And what about all these little US small businesses complaining about tariffs? I feel like they're getting taken for a ride... 🚂

omg, like, this trade deal between trump & modi is def a win for us! 🙌 they r slashin tariffs on india's goods from 50% to 18%, which means our energy products r gonna be super competitive in the market now 😎 indian imports from russia are gonna tank, and american energy exports r gonna see a huge boost 💪. plus, modi agreed to stop buyin russian oil, so we can focus on makin deals with other countries 🤝. i know some us small businesses r not stoked about this deal cuz theyre still payin higher tariffs than last year 🤑, but overall, im thinkin this is a big win for trump's trade policies 👍
