US attorney general says ‘key participant’ in 2012 Benghazi attack arrested

US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that a key participant in the 2012 Benghazi attack has been arrested. Zubayr al-Bakoush was extradited to the US and will face charges including murder, arson, and terrorism-related offenses.

Bondi emphasized that justice for those killed during the attack, which resulted in the deaths of four US citizens including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, would continue under her administration. "We have never forgotten those heroes," she said. "and we have never stopped seeking justice for that crime against our nation."

Al-Bakoush had been charged with both the murder of Ambassador Stevens and another State Department employee, Sean Smith, as well as the attempted murder of a State Department special agent.

However, not everyone directly involved in the attack is under arrest. Ahmed Abu Khatallah was convicted in 2014 for his role in the attack but received a lighter sentence after being cleared of murder charges.

The case has been highly politicized, particularly with regards to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of security at the compound before the attack. The incident led to intense scrutiny from Congress and ongoing investigations.

This latest development marks a significant step forward in bringing justice for those affected by the 2012 Benghazi attack.

just hope this is the start of something good 🤞, but let's not get too hyped, we've seen this before with Ahmed Abu Khatallah, he got off easy and that's still a problem 💔. I mean, it's great that Zubayr al-Bakoush is being held accountable for his part in the attack, but what about the others? There's still so much unknowns 🤔. And let's not forget, this just might be a strategic move to make Hillary Clinton's name even more tainted by the whole thing 😒. Still, it's good that justice is finally being sought after all these years 💯.

Just got wind that Zubayr al-Bakoush is finally behind bars 🤩 after being extradited to the US! About time, if you ask me... this guy's been dodging justice for years. I mean, who doesn't want to see someone held accountable for murder and terrorism? 💥 But seriously, it's a big deal that he's facing charges, even if it took this long.

It's interesting that some people are still whining about Ahmed Abu Khatallah getting off scot-free... shouldn't they be more worried about the fact that al-Bakoush is being held accountable? 🤔 And can we please move on from all the politics surrounding Hillary Clinton's handling of security at the compound? It's been a long time, folks. Let's focus on justice being served! 🙏

I'm not convinced this is more than just another PR stunt by the US government 🤔. I mean, why now? After all these years? It's like they're trying to score some cheap points before the midterms or something. And what about Ahmed Abu Khatallah getting off scot-free in 2014? That was a bit suspicious too... not that it's not good that someone's being held accountable, but come on, it all feels a little fishy to me 🐟. Can we get some actual evidence of how this came down? I need to see some real sources on this one 💡

So the US is finally getting someone who was involved in the 2012 Benghazi attack, and it's about time they catch this guy, Zubayr al-Bakoush... I mean, can you imagine what would've happened if he had just got away with it? 🤯 But seriously though, let's not forget that we're still waiting for answers on how Hillary Clinton handled security at the compound before the attack. It's like, yeah, she's been cleared of charges and all, but was it really a fair deal? Shouldn't everyone involved be held accountable? 🤔 And what about Ahmed Abu Khatallah, who got off with a slap on the wrist back in 2014? It just doesn't add up...

OMG, finally some truth comes out 😊! I've been saying it for years, there's more to that Benghazi thing than meets the eye... I mean, what's with all these arrests and charges? It feels like a setup to me 🤔. Think about it, one guy gets arrested after 13 years, but another guy who got off scot-free in 2014 is still walking around? That doesn't add up! 💡 What's the government trying to hide? And don't even get me started on Hillary Clinton's involvement... she's always been a bit shady for my taste 🤷‍♀️. This whole thing just feels like a big ol' conspiracy to me 🔍, and I'm not convinced it's over yet!

🙏 I'm glad some justice is finally being served for the families of those who lost their loved ones during that tragic attack 😔. It's been so long and frustrating to see people like Zubayr al-Bakoush getting away with murder, even if it was in a country other than the US 🤯. I think it's amazing that they're finally going to face the charges they deserve, especially considering how many lives were lost that day 🕊️. It's not about politics or party lines - it's just about giving justice to those who need it most 💖. Let's hope this is a turning point in getting closure for the families and friends of those victims ❤️.

man this is crazy Zubayr al-Bakoush gets arrested like what's next? I feel bad for the families of the victims still waiting to see justice done, can't imagine how frustrating it must be. and yeah politics comes into play with Hillary Clinton's role in all this... not saying she's guilty or anything but you'd think someone would get held accountable for that one .anyway good news maybe this will finally put some closure to these people

just saw this news and it's crazy that they finally caught zubayr al-bakoush! hope he pays for what he did to those innocent ppl 🤕 especially ambassador stevens, his death was such a tragedy 😢 i feel like justice has been delayed but not denied, still so sad about sean smith tho 💔 wish we could've done more to prevent it all...anyway, glad the us is taking action now and hoping they get the best possible outcome for their victims 👍

🤔 just heard about Zubayr al-Bakoush being arrested 🚔💥 finally some accountability for that tragic event 4 years ago 💀🇺🇸 it's a huge relief to know that justice is still on track for the families of those who lost their lives 😔👫 can't help but think about Ambassador Stevens and Sean Smith, heroes who sacrificed everything for our country ❤️💕 hope this arrest leads to more concrete progress in solving the case 🚨💪

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🤯, like what's taken so long? I mean I know politics can be slow but come on, four people lost their lives and we're just now getting some semblance of justice? It feels like a slap in the face every time I think about it 😔. And to make matters worse, this guy gets arrested after years of dodging charges 🤦‍♂️, while another guy who was convicted but got a slap on the wrist for his role is still free walking around? What even is that? 🚫

I know some people say we need closure and all that, but let me tell you it's not about closure when justice hasn't been served yet 🙄. It's about accountability and making sure that no one else has to go through what those families had to go through 👪. I'm glad this guy is finally facing charges but can we please just get some real answers around here? 🔍

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation 🤯. I mean, it's about time someone got held accountable for what went down at that compound back in 2012 🕊️. Four innocent people lost their lives and a lot of Americans are still left wondering what really happened. The fact that Al-Bakoush is finally facing charges is a step in the right direction, but it's also a reminder that justice can be slow and complicated 🕰️.

I'm curious to see how this all plays out now that Al-Bakoush is in custody. Will we ever get some real answers about what happened on that night? And more importantly, will those responsible for mishandling the security at the compound be held accountable too? I guess only time will tell 😬.

I'm not buying it 🙄, like seriously? This guy gets arrested 13 years later and suddenly everyone's all about closure? It just feels too convenient. I mean, what about all the other suspects who were supposed to be held accountable back in the day? It smells like a PR stunt to me 🤔.

And don't even get me started on Ahmed Abu Khatallah - he gets a slap on the wrist and everyone moves on, but this new guy gets 13 years of 'Justice for America' 🙃. I'm not saying justice isn't important, but come on folks, let's not be too quick to celebrate.

Finally some news that's been ages coming! I mean, come on, it's about time someone got brought to book for what happened all those years ago. I'm not saying this will bring back Chris Stevens and Sean Smith, but it's a start, right? And let's be real, if they were able to catch someone as slippery as Zubayr al-Bakoush, that means there's probably more where he came from 🕵️‍♂️. It's interesting to see how this whole thing has played out - the politics and all that... I don't know, it just seems like a lot of people were just trying to get ahead of each other instead of focusing on justice. But hey, at least now we can say we're moving in the right direction 💪.

idk why this still matters after all these years... like, we move on with our lives and yet these things are still stuck in our heads 🤯... i mean, it's good that justice is being served or whatever but can't we just put this stuff to rest already?

i remember when this happened and it was a huge deal back then... people were all upset about the security at the compound and how it wasn't enough... and now, years later, we're still hearing about it and it's like... yeah, i get it 🙄...

anyway, glad someone is finally getting arrested for their part in it but i don't think this is going to bring back ambassador stevens or sean smith 👎... justice is one thing, closure is another... can we just focus on moving forward now? 💨
