I'm so sorry it took this long for someone like BNP Paribas to face consequences for their role in supporting a brutal regime like that in Sudan . The thought of them profiting from oil and cotton exports while the Janjaweed was committing heinous acts against innocent people is just devastating . It's crazy to think about how they were able to turn a blind eye to the harm caused by their actions and just keep making money off it . I'm glad this verdict is a step towards accountability, though - these victims deserve justice . Now, let's see if BNP Paribas will actually face any real consequences for their past actions or if they'll just continue to try and wriggle out of responsibility .

I'm still reeling from this one ... 20.75 million is a small price to pay for what these people went through, right? I mean, we're talking torture, burns, and sexual assault here... it's sickening . And the bank just goes along with it? Unbelievable! They knew what was going on and still helped out the regime financially .

I'm also thinking about those defence lawyers saying there's no connection between the bank's actions and the harm suffered by the plaintiffs... like, come on guys . You can't just ignore the impact of your actions on human rights abuses. This is what accountability is all about .

And what really gets me is that this verdict comes after BNP Paribas pleaded guilty to transferring billions of dollars for Sudanese entities subject to economic sanctions in 2014... so it's been a while, right? Still, better late than never, I guess .
