US sanctions Iran ‘shadow fleet’ it says fuels violent protest crackdown

🤔 I'm so worried about what's going on in Iran right now. These sanctions might be a good step, but we need more support for those being repressed. It's heartbreaking to think that innocent people lost their lives during protests, & it's not just protesters, but also security personnel & bystanders who got hurt 😭.

I'm curious about the US naval force heading to the region. Is this going to escalate things or is it a warning to Iran? I wish there was more transparency about what's happening on the ground. We need to hear from people in Iran directly, not just through news reports 📰

The UN Human Rights Council took a great step by holding an emergency session & voting for a resolution extending their mandate. It's about time someone is calling out human rights abuses. I hope leaders in Tehran listen & take action to stop the repression 💪

🤯 just heard about the US slapping sanctions on Iran's "shadow fleet" 😒 it's like, they're trying to cut off the funding for those human rights abuses, but at the same time, sending a naval force to the region... 🚢🔥 what's the plan? is this just a show of strength or are we actually going to make a difference? 🤔 i'm all for making the Iranian government accountable for their actions, but this feels like another step in a long game, and i'm not sure if it'll translate to change on the ground. 💸👀

idk about these sanctions, feel like they're more of an attempt to put economic pressure on Iran rather than actually making a difference... it's still gonna be hard for them to change their ways without being forced out of business or something. and yeah, it's pretty outrageous that they have this "shadow fleet" just generating cash for the government's repression activities 🤑. can't say I'm exactly thrilled about the US trying to police Iran's economy either, feels like a classic case of 'us vs them'.
