US warns Americans to leave Venezuela immediately as armed militias set up roadblocks

US Government Warns Americans to Leave Venezuela Immediately as Armed Militias Set Up Roadblocks

The US government has issued a new security alert warning American citizens in Venezuela to leave the country immediately due to rising security concerns. According to the US Embassy Caracas, armed militias known as 'colectivos' have set up roadblocks and are searching vehicles for evidence of US citizenship or support for the United States.

As international flights have resumed, the embassy has urged US citizens to take this opportunity to leave Venezuela as soon as possible. The US Department of State continues to list Venezuela at its highest travel warning level due to severe risks to Americans, including wrongful detention, torture in detention, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, crime, civil unrest, and poor health infrastructure.

US citizens in Venezuela should not expect consular assistance from the embassy, which withdrew all diplomatic personnel from US Embassy Caracas in March 2019. The US government has also suspended operations and is unable to provide emergency services to US citizens in Venezuela.

The warning comes as part of an ongoing crackdown on dissent in Venezuela, with masked men with guns patrolling the streets. Pro-government supporters have clashed with security forces in recent days.

In light of these developments, officials are urging Americans to exercise extreme caution when traveling to or remaining in Venezuela. The embassy has issued a clear warning: "Do not travel to Venezuela," and advised US citizens in Venezuela to leave as soon as they feel it is safe to do so.

The US government's decision to issue this alert highlights the growing instability in Venezuela, which has been plagued by economic crisis, food shortages, and widespread human rights abuses. As tensions continue to escalate, it remains essential for American citizens to prioritize their safety and take all necessary precautions when traveling to or remaining in the country.

🚨😬 this is getting serious 🤯 roadblocks everywhere? 😵 what's next? 🚫 no international flights? 🛫️ i'm surprised they're still allowing people to enter 🤔 but yeah, americans should def stay away 🚫💪 Venezuela is a mess right now 🌪️ economic crisis, food shortages... it's like living in a war zone 💥 poor health infrastructure? 😷 no thanks 🚫

man this is getting crazy in venezuela... 🤕 they're basically telling americans to leave but like how can ppl just up and leave? its not that easy to get outta a country with no other job prospects or family ties... 🚫 i get why the us is being cautious tho, those militias sound super sketchy... 💥 gotta be hard for venezuelans too, dont know how they're supposed to live in such uncertainty 🤔

Ugh, I'm so worried about those people in Venezuela 🤕. I was reading this news and it's like, what's going on with that country? One minute you're living your life, next minute you're being stopped by armed militias looking for proof of US citizenship... it's crazy! 😲 I've got friends who have tried to travel there for work or whatever and they always talk about how sketchy it is. Like, what if you get stuck in the country with no way out? It gives me anxiety just thinking about it 🤯. I'm glad the US government is warning people to leave, maybe that's the best decision for their safety. But at the same time, I feel bad for those people who are already struggling and need some stability in their lives... it's like, can't they just have a break from all this drama?! 🤦‍♀️

I'm gettin' a bad vibe from this news 🤕. I mean, can't believe they're tellin' Americans to just leave the country like that? It's not exactly fair to them, especially since they've got bills to pay and families to provide for 💸. And what's with these "colectivos" and their roadblocks? It sounds like a scene straight out of a movie or somethin' 🎥. I remember when I was in college, we used to travel all over the world and not think twice about it... now it seems like everyone's just stuck at home waitin' for things to calm down 🤯. I'm all for prioritizin' safety, but can't they find a better way to handle this situation? 😕

omg what's going on with venezuela 🤯 this is getting super scary with those armed militias setting up roadblocks and searching ppl's cars...i feel so bad for the american tourists who are trying to leave the country but can't because of all the red tape 🚫💔 the us gov really needs to step in and help out more ASAP 👀 meanwhile, i'm just over here thinking 'can't we all just get along?' 😔

🤔 This latest warning from the US government is a huge red flag for any American planning to travel to Venezuela. I mean, what's going on in that country right now? It's like a perfect storm of instability and danger. The thought of those armed militias searching vehicles and detaining people without due process is just terrifying. 🚫 I'm all for Americans being mindful of their safety abroad, but this is extreme caution taken to a whole new level. What's the US government going to do to help its citizens once they're stuck in Venezuela? 😬

im so worried about those americans in venezuela 🤕💔 they need to get outta there ASAP! its not safe at all with all these armed militias and protests going on i hope the embassy can provide some help but it seems like theyre pretty much on their own right now 😕
