Venezuela seeks withdrawal from International Criminal Court’s Rome Statute

🤔 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this move by Venezuela... it feels like they're essentially telling the international community that their human rights abuses are no big deal. I mean, sure, the ICC is not perfect, but come on! 🙄 It's one thing to have issues with the institution, but completely withdrawing from a treaty is just ridiculous. And what's really got me confused is how Venezuela is framing this as some kind of "strike against an antiquated institution" when it's really just a way to shield themselves from accountability. 👀 The fact that they're trying to tie this to the US and claim they're being unfairly targeted is pretty weak too... 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out...

Venezuela's move is super suspicious 🤑. Like, what's really going on here? They're just going to sign some new paper and pretend like nothing bad happened? 🤔 Meanwhile, ICC is still trying to do its job... 😒

This is just great 🙄, Venezuela is going to sign some legislation that basically means nothing since China and Russia are just gonna do whatever they want and no one can touch 'em... It's like they're playing a game of "who can be the most hypocritical" and it looks like Venezuela is winning 🤦‍♂️ The fact that Maduro is trying to spin this as a "strike against an institution that only serves those in power" is just laughable, he's just trying to hide his own government's tracks 🚮 And what really gets me is that the US didn't even try to stop this from happening... they're just too busy being their usual self-absorbed selves 💁‍♂️

man I feel like venezuela is just so tired of being criticized and judged by the world... it's like they're saying "you know what, we don't need no stinkin' international court tellin' us how to run our country" 💔🇻🇪. but at the same time, I'm kinda worried that this move is gonna lead to more problems down the line... like if venezuela's leaders start thinkin' they can just do whatever they want and no one's gonna hold 'em accountable 🤷‍♂️. and what about all those ppl who've been affected by alleged human rights abuses? don't they deserve some kinda justice or protection? 🤔💕

😒 i'm so late to the party... just saw this and i gotta say, venezuela's move is super sus 🤔. like, they're accusing the icc of being biased towards powers that be? how convenient? 🙄 it feels like a classic case of "us vs them" where venezuela's trying to deflect attention from their own alleged human rights abuses 🔊.

i mean, don't get me wrong, the icc isn't perfect and all, but come on... Venezuela's got some serious skeletons in their closet 👀. the fact that they're trying to pull a fast one like this just makes me think they're desperate to avoid accountability 💔. fyi, though, it doesn't change the fact that the icc has already been probing alleged human rights abuses under Maduro's gov 🕵️‍♀️.

anyway, i'm just glad someone's keeping an eye on this... too bad it took me ages to catch up 😅.

🤔 this whole thing got me thinking, what happens when we as a collective try to hold those in power accountable? it feels like an institution is supposed to do its job, but if it doesn't align with our interests, we just walk away... i mean, Venezuela's move might be seen as a rebuke, but isn't that just a form of avoidance? and what happens when we don't face the consequences for our actions? does that really help anyone in the long run? 🤷‍♂️ maybe it's time to think about how we can reform these institutions from within, instead of trying to opt out altogether. 💡
