just saw that obama is posting condolences on x but can't help think about how weird it is that he's getting all this grief from kenyans for giving them democracy like what did they expect? a lifetime supply of free goods and services? newsflash: being given the gift of democracy comes with a lot of responsibility, not just cheering and waving
man this is such a sad day for kenya I'm literally crying over here thinking about obama's statement about Raila Odinga... he sounds like my grandfather who always put the country before himself I remember watching him on tv during the election and how he would get all upset when people were saying he cheated but at the same time you could tell he was passionate about it because he believed so strongly in democracy anyway ida's wish for everyone to grieve calmly seems really sad that some of his mourners lost their lives already
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. - FDR
It's just so sad ... I mean, Raila Odinga was an amazing guy who gave his life for Kenya and its people. Seeing all those thousands of mourners paying their respects to him is heartbreaking . I remember watching news clips of him during elections, always standing up for what he believed in, even when it meant going against the odds. He was like a beacon of hope for many Kenyans, especially after the bloody 2007 election. His legacy will live on, and I'm sure his country is going to miss him a lot . It's beautiful that Obama is giving such a glowing tribute to him - it just goes to show how respected Odinga was around the world .
