What we're reading: Alan Hollinghurst, Samantha Harvey and Guardian readers on the books they enjoyed in December

just read this article about what people are reading ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘€ and i'm loving how everyone's got their own fave book going on! i mean tomasz is all about iris murdoch, alan hollinghurst is geeking out over john fuller & seamus heaney, kelly's getting all chills from claire keegan... meanwhile samantha harvey's still reeling from neel mukherjee and stuart's lost in jacek dukaj's epic 1200-page novel ๐Ÿคฏ. personally i'd be down for any of these books - especially if they've got a good mystery or philosophical twist ๐Ÿ˜Ž. anyone else find themselves devouring one book after another? ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ I'm loving these reading habits from the Guardian readers! Tomasz's rekindled passion for Iris Murdoch is a great reminder that we can always rediscover new favorite authors and books. ๐Ÿ˜Š And Stuart's obsession with Jacek Dukaj's 1,200-page novel is totally understandable - who wouldn't want to dive into an epic sci-fi adventure? ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿ‘ฝ Samantha Harvey's mention of Helen Garner has me intrigued too - I need to check out more of her work! ๐Ÿ’ก The Sauna Book Club's unanimous rating for Claire Keegan's 'Small Things Like These' is spot on - that book sounds hauntingly beautiful. โ„๏ธ I'm also curious about Neel Mukherjee's 'Choice' now, after hearing it's left Samantha Harvey shaken but captivated. ๐Ÿคฏ Anyone else want to join the conversation about these books? ๐Ÿ’ฌ

what's up with these authors ๐Ÿค”... like tomasz got all misty eyed over iris murdoch and i'm over here thinking she's a bit overrated lol ๐Ÿ˜ด her writing is all flowery but what's the point? ๐ŸŒบ i mean don't get me wrong, alan hollinghurst's reading choices are def more up my alley - john fuller's poetry is like butter for the soul ๐Ÿž and heaney's poems are like the perfect cuppa โ˜•๏ธ... what's your take on keegan's 'small things like these'? too sappy for you? ๐Ÿค—
