What were the Afghan "Zero Units" that sources say the National Guard shooting suspect worked for?

Exclusive Details Emerge on Afghan "Zero Unit" Ties to National Guard Shooting Suspect

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the suspect in Monday's deadly shooting of four US National Guard members, had a murky past with the CIA-backed Afghan intelligence unit known as the Kandahar Strike Force or "03" unit - one of the infamous "Zero Units" that operated alongside US forces during the war in Afghanistan.

According to sources close to the investigation, Lakanwal was part of the elite unit for eight years and worked closely with the CIA. The "03" unit, comprised exclusively of Afghan nationals, was considered one of the most trusted domestic forces in Afghanistan, but its secrecy and alleged brutality have raised eyebrows among human rights groups.

Lakanwal's involvement with the unit has sparked questions about his potential connections to terrorism. While US officials say there is no concrete evidence linking him to any terrorist organization, a former senior Afghan general confirmed that Lakanwal was deeply troubled by the casualties in this unit - and recent events, including the killing of his close friend overseas.

The investigation has also shed light on how the "Zero Units" benefited from their association with the US government. As members of these elite units were deemed high-risk targets for Taliban retaliation, they were offered asylum in the US as part of a guarantee program. This came to fruition during the August 2021 evacuation from Kabul.

The Afghan government's current leadership has yet to comment on Lakanwal's arrest, fueling further speculation about his past activities.

😬 this whole thing is so messed up i mean what even was the Kandahar Strike Force or "Zero Unit" doing in afghanistan? sounds like they were basically a secret squad of bad apples who got away with some serious stuff and now we're reaping the consequences 🤕. it's wild that lakanwal just happened to be part of this unit for 8 years and worked closely with cia - what does that even mean? did he get brainwashed or something? 🤯 also how many other people were involved in this program and are they all getting asylum too? 🤔

man this is wild 🤯 like what's going on with these "Zero Units" and their connections to terrorism? i mean i know they were supposed to be these elite forces working alongside the US but now it sounds like some of them might've been in it for more than just patriotism 💸 the whole asylum thing is sketchy too, how many people got screwed over by that system? 🤷‍♂️ and what's up with Lakanwal's past? was he really as troubled as everyone says or was it all just a cover story? 📝 gotta keep an eye on this one, it smells like a major conspiracy 🔍

idk what's more shocking - that this dude was part of some secret afghan unit or that he got asylum in the US after joining said unit 🤷‍♂️. like, if you're gonna work with the CIA, expect some level of scrutiny, right? but hey, who needs human rights when there are guarantees and a comfy life abroad? 🌴 meanwhile, the Afghan government's all quiet on this, because of course they are - what do we know about their involvement in this whole debacle? 🤐

🤔 I'm really surprised how many people knew about this suspect's ties to the CIA-backed Afghan unit... it makes me wonder if there were more people in the loop than we think. I mean, we all know that the US was heavily involved in Afghanistan, but it seems like some of those connections are still being uncovered.

The fact that Lakanwal was part of this elite unit for 8 years and worked with the CIA is wild. It raises so many questions about what he might have been involved in. And now, we're seeing how his past has caught up to him.

I'm also thinking about those "Zero Units" and how they were basically seen as high-risk targets by the Taliban. It's crazy that the US government offered them asylum in exchange for their loyalty... it feels like a pretty shady deal if you ask me. 💥

🤔 this whole thing is super weird... i mean, on one hand, it's crazy that this guy had ties to the CIA and was part of this "Zero Unit" for 8 years... like what were they even doing? 😂 but at the same time, it's all so shady... human rights groups are saying these units were basically untouchable and that they did some pretty bad stuff. 🤯 and now we're wondering if he was somehow involved with terrorism? idk man, this investigation is giving me a headache lol

anyway, i'm kinda glad the US government's taking this seriously... it's about time someone looked into how these "Zero Units" were really working... and omg, asylum in the US for being high-risk targets? that's just wild 🤯 i guess we'll just have to wait and see what comes out of this investigation

omg i cant even believe this is real!!! Rahmanullah Lakanwal was part of the "Zero Units" for like 8 years!! how many lives did he touch during that time?? 🤯 i mean its crazy that the CIA worked with him and now hes a suspect in a national guard shooting 🤔 but what if he wasnt just a bad guy? what if he was caught up in some bad stuff because of his job 🤷‍♀️ this whole asylum thing in the us is wild too 💥 like how did they even find out about it and why didnt anyone say anything earlier 🤐

🤔 this whole thing is wild, like how some ppl get away with stuff because they're "trustworthy" & then suddenly it all comes crashing down 🚨. what's even more messed up is that the US govt basically used these elite units as human shields to get outta Afghanistan without having to deal w/ the consequences of their own actions 🤯. and now we're left wondering about this guy Lakanwal's connections & whether he was ever really in control of his own life or just a pawn in someone else's game 🕵️‍♂️

🤔 this is getting ugly... if Lakanwal was that close with "03" unit and had those thoughts about the casualties, what does that say about the whole program? 🚫 wasn't it supposed to be a partnership with US forces to keep the peace in Afghanistan? now they're using him as a scapegoat for whatever happened on Monday... meanwhile, we're not hearing much from the Afghan gov about their role in all this 🙄

I'm getting a bit uneasy about these "Zero Units" and how they're being handled. I mean, think about it - elite units that operate outside the law, with ties to the CIA... it's like something out of a spy novel 🕵️‍♂️. And now we've got this Rahmanullah guy, who was part of one of these units for 8 years? That's a long time to be involved in something shady 🤔. I'm not saying he's definitely connected to terrorism, but the more I read about it, the more I wonder what other skeletons are in his closet 👻. And the fact that these "Zero Units" got asylum in the US as part of some guarantee program? That just seems like a big ol' mess 🤯.
