Zelenskyy ready to work on US-backed plan to end Russia-Ukraine war

Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky has signaled a willingness to work with US President Donald Trump on a plan to end the war with Russia, despite pushback from European allies who argue that the US-backed proposal favors Moscow. According to a draft of the 28-point plan, Ukraine would cede territory and disarm in exchange for a US security guarantee.

Zelensky confirmed Thursday that he had received the draft and is set to discuss it with Trump in the coming days. While the details have not been made public, Zelensky stated that his team is ready to work on points of the plan with Ukraine and the United States. The Ukrainian leader also emphasized the need for "constructive, honest, and prompt" negotiations.

Meanwhile, European leaders remain skeptical about the proposal, citing concerns over Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed the view that peace cannot come at the cost of capitulation, while Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Europe expects to be consulted on any potential deal, as its own security is "at stake".

The situation remains tense on the battlefield, with Russian forces continuing to gain ground in Ukraine's east. The Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian forces had seized approximately 3,434 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory this year.

As fighting persists despite efforts at peace talks, Zelensky has pressed Russia to end the conflict, calling the continued bombardment "brazen attacks against ordinary life". His visit to Turkey aimed at reviving peace talks with Russia followed a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where he expressed confidence in the strength of Turkish diplomacy.

Despite these efforts, it remains unclear whether the US-backed plan will achieve its goal, and how Ukraine's sovereignty might be affected.

🤔 this whole situation is super complicated 🤯... i think zelensky's open to the us proposal but idk if europe's gonna go along with it... all these points about ceding territory and disarmment are gonna make ppl in ukraine & europe super uneasy 😬. meanwhile, trump's coming over as kinda the peace broker or something... not sure how that's gonna play out in reality 🤷‍♂️. one thing's for sure tho - this war's been dragging on for ages and it's time to find a way forward ⏰. we just gotta hope that any deal that comes together doesn't disadvantage ukraine too much 🤞...

ugh this is gonna end in disaster 🤯 ukraine is just gonna get screwed out of their territory like that no way zelensky thinks he can trust trump on this one... european leaders are right to be skeptical american interests always come first not the little guy like ukraine 💔 also what's with all these 'constructive' and 'honest' negotiations... sounds like just code for us doing your dirty work 🤥 and meanwhile russia is still gaining ground in ukraine it's like they're playing a game of chess while we're all stuck watching from the sidelines... no peace talks are ever good news 😒

This whole situation is like, super complicated 🤯... I don't know if I'm for or against this plan, to be honest. On one hand, a peaceful resolution would be amazing 🙏, especially for the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire. But on the other hand, giving up territory? That's like, really hard to swallow 😷... Especially when you think about Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. And what about Russia's demands? Are they just gonna get everything they want? 💸 I'm all for constructive negotiations, but we gotta make sure we're not sacrificing our values in the process 🤔. Trump and Zelensky are like, trying to break new ground here, which is cool ⚡️... But can it really work? Only time will tell 🕰️.

omg i just had the craziest idea for a new food truck concept 🚀🍴... i'm thinking we do this fusion of Ukrainian pierogies with Korean BBQ sauce, what do u think? 😂 we could even call it "Zelenski's Seoul-ful Pierogies" lol ok maybe that needs some work but seriously, have you tried making those pierogies from scratch? they're soooo easy to mess up if u don't get the dough right... 🤦‍♀️ anyway, back to the war in Ukraine... yeah i dont know how much more of this i can take 😓

I'm getting really worried about this... Zelensky is basically giving up on Ukraine's territory? 28 points that sound like a recipe for disaster... what's next? Are we gonna trade our own country away for some security guarantee? I don't think so! 🤕 It's not just about Ukraine, it's about the principle. We can't just sit back and let Russia dictate terms. European leaders need to stand firm on this one. Capitulation is not an option. 😒

I'm not sure why everyone is getting so worked up about this 28-point plan 🤔. I mean, think about it - Ukraine wants to end the war and Trump is willing to work with them on a deal 🤝. And let's be real, the US has already been involved in this conflict for years, so what's another few concessions here and there? 🙃

I know some of my European friends are getting all bent out of shape about Ukraine ceding territory, but come on - we're not talking about giving up our country or anything drastic like that 🤷‍♂️. It's just a little territory to secure peace, right? 💯

And have you seen the numbers for Russia's gains in Ukraine this year? 3,434 square kilometers is nothing compared to the sacrifices Ukraine has made so far 😔. I'm all for finding a peaceful resolution to this conflict, but let's not get too worked up about it just yet 🙅‍♂️.

I think Zelensky and Trump are onto something here, and we should give them some space to work out the details 👍. After all, that's what diplomacy is all about - compromise and finding common ground 💪. Let's not get too hung up on the nitty-gritty details just yet 🤗.
