5 Democrats who advised service members to refuse illegal orders say they're under investigation

At least five prominent Democrats who advised service members to defy unlawful orders are now under FBI investigation, reports CBS News. The video featuring the lawmakers was viewed over 1 million times on social media platforms before it was taken down.

The lawmakers in question include Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV), Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Ed Markey (D-MA). Representatives Cori Bush (D-MO), Pete Aguilar (D-CA) and Sara Jacobs (D-CA) are also under investigation.

Manchin told service members in a December 2022 video that the US military will "not stand idly by" if an order comes from the White House to "invade another country or do something that's not lawful". The law makers urged Americans to defy unlawful orders, drawing criticism for the decision.

The FBI has confirmed they are investigating the lawmakers and will likely look into whether their statements constituted an encouragement of insurrection.

I THINK IT'S KINDA SUSPICIOUS THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS NOW INVESTIGATING DEMOCRATS FOR SAYING SOMETHING THAT MOST AMERICANS WOULD PROBABLY AGREE WITH - STANDING UP AGAINST LAWFUL ORDERS. IT FEELS LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO SILENCE PEOPLE WHO ARE TALKING OUT AGAINST THE STATUS QUO. This whole thing feels like a big mess. I'm not sure what's more concerning - that these lawmakers feel they need to advise Americans to disobey orders from the White House, or that the FBI is investigating them for it.

Look, as a country, we're supposed to have some level of checks and balances in place, right? But when it comes down to it, are these folks really worried about insurrection, or are they just trying to score points with their base?

omg u can't believe whats goin on rn ! so like these democrats are under FBI investigation cuz they told ppl to defy orders from the white house lol what a mess! i mean, i get it, ur against war or whatever but dont just encourage ppl 2 take matters into their own hands its not that deep anyway, i think its kinda messed up that theres like a video of them out there on social media and people watched it over a million times what were ppl thinkin?! did they really wanna see dem saying stuff like dat? i dont know man...i guess ur right 2 speak out but not 2 incite rebellion or whatever

I think it's kinda interesting how the whole "defy unlawful orders" thing is getting scrutinized by the FBI now that some prominent Democrats are involved . OMG, this is like soooo concerning ! I'm all about promoting peace and unity in our society , but when it comes to the military being told to defy orders from the White House, that's just not cool .
