Instant coffee just beat drip – we were stunned too

Instant coffee has finally beaten drip coffee in a blind taste test, leaving experts stunned.

A team of researchers from Drexel University conducted an experiment involving 24 instant coffee brands and 84 participants who were asked to rate their favorite brews. The results showed that 77% of participants preferred the taste of instant coffee over drip coffee. What's more surprising is that it wasn't the high-end or specialty instant coffees that won, but rather a budget-friendly option.

According to Jonathan Deutsch and Rachel Sherman, the researchers behind the study, "Sometimes simplicity wins." They found that the best overall instant coffee was one that could be found at most grocery stores.

When asked about his own coffee habits, Deutsch admitted that he has tried fancier coffee options in the past but was disappointed by their quality. However, he discovered a balance between quality and price when it comes to instant coffee.

It's unclear if this discovery will change Deutsch's daily routine or whether he'll opt for convenience over tradition, as he had initially enjoyed his drip-coffee brew.

I mean, can you believe that instant coffee is now the clear winner?! 🤯 I've always been a fan of instant coffee myself, and I guess this study just proves that it's not all about being fancy or expensive. I've tried those high-end specialty coffees before, but let's be real, they're just not worth the hype. The fact that a budget-friendly option took the top spot is like, totally mind-blowing! 😲 And what's with people being surprised by this? Haven't we all just assumed that instant coffee was going to come out on top at some point? 🤷‍♀️ Anyway, I'm definitely gonna have to try some of those affordable options and see if they live up to the hype. This study is like a game-changer for me! 💡

I'm not buying it... 77% prefer instant? That sounds like a pretty small sample size to me 🤔. I mean, have they ever tried making coffee the right way - with a French press or pour-over? I swear by my Aeropress and it's so much better than any instant coffee. And what's this "simplicity wins" business? Can't they see that's just code for "we can't be bothered to put in the effort"? 🙄

omg u gotta believe its happenin!!! i mean who wud hav thought that instnt coffee wd beat out drip coffee in a blind taste test? like seriously 77% of ppl wud take instnt over drip?? i personally didnt think instnt cud hold a candle to drip but im glad i was wrong lol. what i find funny is dat it wasnt even the fancy instnts thats won but a budget one 😂. i guess u dont hv 2 spend a fortune 4 good coffee. i might hafta rethink my own coffee habits now 🤔

idk what's more surprising here... that instant coffee won or that people were willing to give up on a decent cup of drip coffee 🤯. i mean, who thought it was a good idea to test 24 different instant brands and still came out with the same budget-friendly winner? anyway, i guess it just goes to show that sometimes you don't need all those fancy features to get a great cup of coffee... but at what cost, tho? 😒

OMG 😍 like i know some ppl r gonna be salty about dis but instant coffee is def winning the game right now!!! 🏆 i mean who needs all that fuss with drip coffee when u can get a great cuppa instant? and its not just 1 or 2 high-end brands that came out on top either, its like a budget-friendly option took the prize! idk about jonathan's past experiences but im all about trying new things and i think he made an awesome discovery. maybe ill have to try some more instant options myself... 💡

🤯 Can you believe 77% of people prefer instant coffee over drip? I mean, I'm not surprised since it's so convenient and easy to make... but still! 🤷‍♂️ The best part is that it was a budget-friendly option that won out! 💸 Like, who needs fancy coffee when you can get a great taste for pennies? 😂 And the researchers found that it wasn't just high-end instant coffees that were popular, but regular old store-brand stuff. 📦 That's amazing to me... I've always thought instant coffee was kinda sketchy, but I guess I was wrong! 😅

Did you know that the US produces over 400 million cups of coffee every day? 🌍 And with the rise of instant coffee, it's no wonder people are opting for a quick fix. 💨 The stats also say that 1 in 5 Americans can't afford to pay full price for a cup of coffee... so this is huge news for those people! 🙌 And on average, people spend around $600-$800 per year on specialty coffee... instant coffee is a game-changer! 🤑

instant coffee is literally changing the game rn 🤯 i mean who would've thought a budget-friendly option would beat out fancy drip coffee? it's all about simplicity, right? 💡 like, sometimes you just need a good cup of joe that won't break the bank or make you feel like a coffee snob. i'm actually kinda surprised they didn't go for high-end instant coffee, it makes sense now 🤓

I'm not surprised about this result 🤔... I mean, have you ever tried some of those super fancy instant coffees? They're basically just coffee-flavored water 💧. Give me a good ol' budget-friendly option any day 😊. And honestly, who doesn't love the convenience of instant coffee when they're in a rush? It's all about finding that balance between quality and price, right? I'm glad some researcher figured that out 👍. Still, it's interesting to see that even experts are surprised by this result 🤯. Maybe we should give instant coffee another chance? 💡

🤯 I'm low-key surprised by these results! I mean, who'd have thought that instant coffee would give drip coffee a run for its money? 🙃 It's all about the quality of the instant coffee brands, right? Not just any old instant will do, apparently. The fact that it was a budget-friendly option that won over everyone is kinda mind-blowing too! 💸 Who needs fancy-schmancy coffee when you can have something that's actually good? 🤷‍♀️ I'm gonna have to try some of these winners and see what all the fuss is about! 👀

omg can u believe it? instant coffee is actually better than the good ol' drip coffee i mean i've always been a drip coffee fan but now i'm tempted to try some new instant coffee brands esp since they're affordable and work well rn think about all the times when you were on-the-go or in a hurry how nice it'll be to have a great cuppa joe that's quick & easy yay to simplicity winning over fancy flavors 🤩💚

ugh i totally think the results are fake they cant be serious 77% of people choosing instant over drip? thats crazy talk lol what about all those coffee snobs who swear by their fancy pour overs and french press? this study is prob just some marketing gimmick to sell more instant coffee 🤑

🤯 I'm low-key surprised that instant coffee is finally getting the recognition it deserves 🙌! I mean, I've been drinking instant coffee for years and it's always hit the spot ☕️. Who knew simplicity could be so appealing? 😊 The fact that a budget-friendly option won over the fancy stuff is just 💸 too easy. Maybe I'm biased but I think instant coffee will forever be underrated 🤷‍♀️. I'll stick to my trusty ol' instant cuppa, no need for all that fuss 💨.

🤔 think its kinda weird that instant coffee came out on top 🍵 never thought id say this but i actually prefer instant now... dont get me wrong i still love a good cuppa drip coffee but there's just something about the speed and convenience of instant that wins me over 😊. gotta say, research says simplicity is key which makes sense to me 💡. also glad some ppl r onto the affordable option 🤑 who needs fancy coffee when you can get quality for cheap? 😂

🤯 I'm low-key surprised by this news! Instant coffee being preferred over drip coffee is already a bold move, but the fact that it was a budget-friendly option that took the crown? Mind blown! I mean, we've all been there - stuck in the morning rush and just needing a quick caffeine fix. Give me instant coffee any day... as long as it's not too bitter 😒. I'm curious to know what other people think about this study. Do you guys prefer the taste of instant or drip coffee? 🤔 And is this a sign that instant coffee has finally come into its own, or just a weird anomaly? 🍵💡

lol can you believe it?! instant coffee is actually better than drip coffee 🤯 I mean, i've always been a fan of drip coffee but i guess the people in this study were right. simplicity does win sometimes 😂 what's wild is that it was a budget-friendly option tho. like who would've thought? maybe i'll try some instant coffee next time i'm in a rush ☕

I'm shocked that instant coffee has finally beaten drip coffee 🤯. I mean, who would've thought that a budget-friendly option would be the winner? It just goes to show that you don't need to break the bank to get a great cup of coffee ☕️. I'm all for trying new things and being open to different options. If simplicity wins, then I'm definitely down for it 😊. But at the same time, there's something special about brewing your own coffee from scratch... maybe it's just me? Anyway, this study has got me thinking - have you guys ever tried instant coffee? Is it a game-changer for you or still prefer your drip coffee? 🤔

ugh i gotta say i'm low-key surprised about this study 🤯 i mean who'd have thought that instant coffee would steal the show? it just goes to show that quality isn't always tied to packaging or price tag 📦💸 maybe it's time for me to reevaluate my morning routine... but let's be real, convenience is key 🕒😴 i'm still gonna stick with my trusty drip coffee, but hey if instant wins the taste test who am i to judge? 😊

🤔 I'm not surprised at all by these results. I mean, who doesn't love the instant gratification of a good cuppa? ☕️ But what's interesting is that it was the budget-friendly option that won over the high-end ones. I think that just goes to show that sometimes, simplicity really does win out. And let's be real, as busy people, we don't always have time for fancy coffee rituals 😴. Instant coffee has come a long way in terms of quality and taste, and it's about time it got the recognition it deserves. But at the end of the day, I'm not sure if I'll be ditching my drip-coffee brew just yet. There's something to be said for the traditional cuppa experience 😊.

I mean, who would've thought that the most popular choice is gonna be the cheapest one? It's like, experts are shocked 😂. I'm just gonna take this as a sign to switch to instant coffee and ditch my fancy coffee maker. I mean, what's the point of paying more for something that's not even gonna impress me? Plus, I heard convenience is key these days... so yeah, instant all the way 💨
